Its All About Oldskool Weekly Email (18th July 2010)

Welcome to this weeks IAAO email.

IAAO now has it's own dedicated IP address. So instead of an IP which is shared between a load of different websites and can change like the weather, ours will always stay the same no matter what.

We changed web hosts this week due to my old hosting company switching off the servers. It seems to have helped with speed as well and the site is now much faster. It just goes to show you how a good server is important when running software as sophisticated as this.

The poll results are in for keeping the 10 post rule or scraping it. The members voted in favour of the 10 posts so it stays. Thanks to those who took the time to vote and express an opinion.

The football season is nearly here again and with it comes the IAAO fantasy football league. It's the third time we've has this and it seems to become better each time we do it, with more people getting involved in the fun. P.S. I've had lots of emails this week from members concerned about certain things. Are we going to use a free and cheap forum host to run the site with lots of adverts on the forum advertising viagra ? Are we going to remove blogs and instead use those free blog sites which aren't tied into the actual forum? Let me put your mind at rest and tell you now that this will never happen. IAAO is constantly looking at new ways to make the site better. Simply adding a couple of extra forums and a couple of cheap pictures into the forums is not good enough for this forum. The same goes for adding some cheap text with a couple of pictures to the forum home page isn't enough. The good thing about having your own site on it's own host is that you can expand by yourself, without the need to ask others to do it for you or to ask permission to add a new mod. This may be good enough for some sites but it's not good enough for this. So sleep well tonight in the knowledge that everything is going to be OK.
