I like to spend as much time as possible pitching the tune up, to get it as near as I possibly can. Once in the mix I usually have the incoming tune in my headphones until the "switch" when the incoming tune drops into a bassline and the outgoing tune goes into clear beats or starts breaking down, then I will switch over. Maybe its because there are less sounds to listen through I dunno, but I will then switch decks and concentrate my pitch / fader adjustment on the outgoing tune
