    Frustrated!

After having a bit of a break from the decks lately my thirst for mixing has returned. Also have been promising a few people I'd record a couple of mixes for them for ages so need to get my arse into gear! The problem is I'm using Traktor Scratch Pro & I'm having no end of problems with it

I've lost count how many times I've recorded a mix latley, & everytime I'm 15, 20, 30 mins in & one of the tunes I'm playing starts going backwards WTF! I also keep experiencing problems with tracks skipping. According to Native Instruments my laptop is way over their reccomended minimum requirements. I've tried adjusting the latency settings, that doesn't work. I've also tried several different software updates, no good. I turn off my wireless, disable any programmes that might be eating up my CPU & yet I still have all these problems. & Native Instruments so called customer support are a waste of time

Mixing used to be something that I really enjoyed, now thanks to Native Instruments it's turned into pure frustration!

The sad thing is I did have Serato before which ran perfect, never had any issues with it. But, after previously using Traktor software with an mp3 mixer I found that I prefered Traktor's interface & was draw towards alot of it's features aswell. So I sold Serato to fund buying Traktor Scratch Pro. BIG mistake! It's time to sell Traktor & switch back to Serato. I'll trade extra features for reliability all day long, & who needs BPM counters anyway?

    FUCK YOU Native Instruments!

Anyone else had similar issues with Traktor?

Dodders uses Traktor so he may know? Hopefully it's for mixing & not for delivery to his stall.

When I was searching a few posts come up with the wires might be the wrong way around. Sometimes it's the simplest thing that gets us.

Have you got all the latest updates to the controller and the programme itself Rogue?

Are you switching between real vinyl and timecode?
If so, recalibrate after every switch.
Recalibrating between tunes if youre not switching between timecode and real vinyl won't do any harm neither.
Are your calibration circles good, btw?

The threads I've read with this issue on the NI forums normally put it down to badly setup decks or dirty needles, likewise the only time I've had the same problem was when I had dirty needles or when I set the counter weight too heavy.

If you're using 2.1.1 then either go back to 2.0.3 or up to 2.1.2 cos 2.1.1 is no good

I had loads of problems with Traktor, until I setup a second partition on my laptop with XP installed on it and installed it there, it worked perfectly after that.

Nah generally i don't switch between normal vinyl & timecode. To be fair I havn't tried adjusting the counterweights so I'll take a look. & although I havn't had my carts / needles that long they have taken a hammering by my mate doing loads of scratching & beat juggling etc, but then they are Shure M44-7's, one of the most durable carts you can get! The needles do tend to pick up fluff quicker than others but the backwards thing happens even when they're clean

Have a look at the calibration scopes if it happens again, it might help pinpoint the issue.
44-7s aren't the easiest to mount and are well known for vinyl wear so if your scopes are oval I'd be tinkering with the cart mounting and tonearm settings, and flipping/swapping the timecodes to pinpoint the issue and get the circles in the scopes as big and round as possible.

Soz to hear Rog - but i'm 15 months in and not a jot of aggro. I will however confess to not upgrading the s/w since install.

My suggestion: re-install from disc & don't update
