Unhappy Numark Mixtrack Pro & Virtual DJ 7 help!!!

Does anybody have this set up?

I've spent the last hour trying to figure out how to get it to work properly

It's either through the speakers or the headphones... It won't do both

I've read the manual, tried various combinations in the configuration but can't get the bastard to work!

    Any help appreciated

I should mention i've got it on my laptop running Windows Vista if that helps...

I loaded the ASIO4ALL software & drivers & it came with Traktor LE, but i didn't install that as i've got VDJ 7 Pro on my laptop.

Everything synchs up & works fine except for the audio... The bloody options, i've been through every configuration & can only get it out of the speakers or the headphones, not both.

I need someone who's got it running to tell me the settings

    Inputs none
    Outputs - External Mixer
Sound card(s)- Seperated - this should allow you listen through the speaker - depends on the soundcard on the mixer or leave as you normally would as there should be a headphone socket on your mp3 mixer and you can listen through your headphones that way
    Soundcard - Primary Sound Driver

Settings - options - see if you're mp3 mixer is pictured there also

Tried that & it isn't having none of it... The soundcard has a Numark option, 2.1, 4.1 & ASIO... It said in the instructions to use the ASIO but when you set it to headphones or external mixer on the output ASIO says not enough channels & that's that

Try it with the Traktor software supplied with the mp3 mixer and see what settings are used for that and then try the same settings with Virtual DJ

Right try this using Windows 7 and Virtual DJ Pro 7

Connect you're Mixtrack Pro via the USB - Wait for the drivers to load then click on Virtual DJ from your desktop.

Once Virtual DJ has loaded click on Configuration.

Click on Soundcard first and click Numark and change the Output from Single Output to headphones (Master Channel 1+2/Headphones Channels 3+4) and then click Apply then ok and then make sure you're faders are up and your cue mix is in the middle and your cue gain is up a bit and you should be able to hear from the headphones. To hear from your speakers turn the cue mix all the way to the right and to hear only what is cued turn cue mix all the way to the left. If you have the cue mix in the middle you should hear a mixture.

Also you have to plug your speakers directly into the the back of the Mixtrack Pro - which i know is obvious but just in case

    Configuration -

    Inputs - None

Outputs - Headphones (Master Channel 1+2/Headphones Channels 3+4

    Soundcard - Numark

    Hope this helps Leon

I have & it was something ridiculously simple

I sent an email to Numark with details of the problem & i got this response today:

    Hello Leon,

Sorry to hear you are experiencing some problems in setting up your sound on the mixtrack pro.

Hopefully this has a simple solution:

Within Virtual Dj, go to: CONFIG -> Sound Setup and set your sound as follows:

    Inputs: None
    Outputs: Headphones
    Sound card: Numark

Please bear in mind you need to plug your speakers into output1 on the mixtrack pro.

If you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate in emailing us back.

    Kind Regards,

I've changed the colour of the text for the all important bit of information that was lacking in the instructions.

Sound Setup with 4.1 motherboard sound card

    Hey guys!

I've just received the Mixtrack Pro and before I could go out to buy cables and whatnot I tried to set it up on my computer by using the motherboard's 4.1 card. Now everything went cool until I find it hard to get the cue / master separated. I do have the option in the Sound options to have Master in the rear jack and Headphones in the front and I've already told the sound card's setup not to bother with switching from speakers to only headphones when I plug the headphones into the front jack. BUT I still hear the exact same thing coming out of the speakers and the headphones. Is there a way to configure the software or the hardware that you guys know of to get this fixed OR is my only option getting equipment with RCA to go into the back of the Mixtrack?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

update: after 2 hours of trying everything, I came to the conclusion that with only 1 sound card you can't do it. You can use the PC's soundcard as your Master OR Headphones out / The Mixtrack's soundcard as your Master OR Headphones but you can't use (or actually you can but there is no point in it) the same sound card for bot Master AND Headphones to cue and hear the master. There are options but I just could not do it. When I tried with Master on Front Channel and Headphones on Rear Channel the HP wouldn't work nor in the Center Channel so I gave up.

Still, if you have any ideas on how to make it work on 1 sound card (hear the cue on headphones and master on speakers) let me know

Hiya mate, you have to have RCA's from the back of the mixtrack to an amp then plug the usb into you computer.

If you don't have the RCA's in it won't work properly, that's the problem i had, i plugged the usb in & it wouldn't work & i thought it was knackered, so i contacted Numark direct & they said "plug it into your amp you dipshit"

What software are you using for mixing? If it's Virtual DJ go into config & set options to inputs none, outputs headphones & the soundcard as Numark & you'll be good to go

Yea, thanks mate. I read your situation, and I will have to get some cables and such cuz I am not at home, but I tried without them anyway. But as far as I see there is a solution to use 2 cards, and that'll work just like you said. Thank you for the reply. Happy mixing to all of you
