    Producing Old Skool Rave Chords

I found this on another forum and thought it might be of some use to some of you

After a little search i think i found the best way for you old skoolers
how to produce those wicked old skool piano-rave chords even
    from the pc-keyboard itself:

    1. Download the following virtual-keyboard from here: Bom's mouse keyboard http://www.bome.com/products/mousekeyboard/downloads
and install. also works under Vista X64

    2. after launching the application, press on the "chord" field and choose: Minor m7

    3. and now the fun part beggins: press on your pc-keyboard or with your
mouse on the virtual keyboard and you have an automatic rave chord.
If you want the piano chord from Prodigy's "every body in the place" tune
choose under "Chord" field "Major m7".

    4. you can change sounds in the app from the "Patch" field.

    5. This app can also be integrated into apps like Propellerhead's Reason
for recording your choons directly in real-time mode.

    6. Have fun

It can be used with Reason, Cubase, Sonar and Acid - it doesn't say about FL

Grabbed this yesterday - quite useful in showing you which notes do what - just have to then do that in your sequencer with your own sounds.
Gonna try this with some piano & string sounds in a mo

    Looks good.

Can this be used with Renoise, or is there something similar that can be?

I'm about to get started with Renoise in a few weeks when I get back to the UK, so excuse my ignorance! :-\

I use renoise, but I've not actually tried to load the prog within it - I used it as a stand alone program & looked at which notes are being pressed when u choose a chord & then putting those notes into renoise.

Ah okay, so I think that answers a question I was wondering about - that Renoise allows you to alter the notes of stabs/chords etc imported into it?

Obviously, I want to sample some oldskool noises but make my own tunes from them....

I've been trying to suss out whether it only lets you sequence stuff, or gives you more control than that...!

Well, technically I didn't import the notes to renoise - I manually added them, but it didn't take long to do once I knew what the notes were.

It's quite difficult to explain in text how renoise works, but I'll try to get a quick video sorted to show u how to do a couple of basic things in it.
All the tunes I've made have been sequenced in renoise - the beefing up is done elsewhere, but that's not important until your tune is ready.

You can listen to a few things I've made here to give u an example of what can be done:

Impressive stuff mate, especially the TigerClaw (07 Re-Edit) track.
Love the video with that on youtube!

I'm sure Renoise must be able to do everything I'd need if you're banging out tunes like that.

I get back to the UK in 2 weeks, so I can dive in then and get my hands dirty.
    Best way to learn!

It does look quite confusing when u load it up, as trackers are fairly different to stuff like cubase / reason etc, but I find it the quickest for actually getting things done - just click 'load samples' to load your samples into the slots, pick the one u want & start putting it in the track.
    Same with vsts & effects.

Thanks for the comments - glad u liked them

The Tigerclaw remix, Tango Project remix are both out - not at home at the mo, but will put details up when I return.
Dodge This remix hasn't come out yet - will ask the original artist & label owner of the original if I can put it out as nothings happened with it yet.
The Burial remix - well, the part 1 remix (very similar minus the extra ragga vox) is being given away as part of a digital pack with a vinyl I'm putting out - viewtopic.php?f=8&t=14281

Also got a few bits come out / coming out on a new label me & someone else has done - paranoidrecordings.com

Anyway, once I'm home I'll update properly.
