Could be your CPU usage is too high... I bet your lappy has never been cleaned (and i don't mean with a feather duster!)... Stick with Audacity to record matey, it's easier... Just my opinion![]()
Ive read somewhere before that Audacity is crap for recording anything over about 30/40 mins.
audacity is pretty crap, hence why it's free(degrades the sound apparently)
I will bow down to superior knowledge... I only use it to record my vinyl & i haven't had any complaints about the quality on my recent rips... Never used it to record for more than 10 minutes so couldn't say on that side of things but if i recall correctly when i was at Curly's he used Audacity to record his sets...
Me personally, i think it's your laptop sexy bum![]()
when I said audacity was crap I didn't mean totally crap, just not the best you can use, soundforge is better but costs 300 quid![]()

record on audacity with low recording volume (you can increase the gain once it's done - this will stop it peaking)
also as said before , your CPU usage maybe high , so clean up your computer (c cleaner will do that simply) and don't have any internet running. I've had clips and skips from that before
Definitely computer struggling to keep up which causes skips in the recording.
You can try shutting down all other programs which are running, including background programs like antivirus software.
A good hard drive cleanup and defrag wont hurt either..
I had exactly the same problem as you last week and was tearing my hair out! I tried everything it wasn't clipping or anything but still jumping all the time and i was only trying to record single tracks from vinyl (no long 20,30 min jobs etc...).
In the end i gave up and guessed it must be true what people have been saying about not enough RAM or something
I ended up using this http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct...hPXdtcyaUbPLfA which did actually do the job. It's free in the download section but is pretty basic. It does'nt have the same amount of tools and options as audacity and takes a while to get the input levels etc... sorted but like i said it the job that audacity couldn't do.
Might be worth a try?
You can always run the wav once recorded from kristal audio through audacity to make changes etc...
