Question: Anyone had any aggro with transporting VST's? On every startup its telling me to give myself admin rights to the folder (which is done) so it can do summin or other. Pretty sure i'm missing a few when it does eventually let me in.

All my VSTs showed up without me telling Renoise what folder they were all in - i'm using Windows XP
But i did what RG said a few months back make a VST folder on your c: drive and install them all in that folder and so far i have had no problems![]()
You might need to re-install them - copy & paste might not work as when you install stuff it puts details into other windows files, so won't know where to find them with just a cut n paste.
Not used vista aside from my parents laptop - was like a bad version of Win7!
Hope you get it sorted.
if you're intimidated by the learning curve for all the new features, i would suggest just ignoring them and using it as a basic tracker. just have fun for a while!
i have personally had a horrible time with music software over the years, and i've just basically written it off completely, saving a little spot for a few programs that i actually enjoy using. if it's not any fun, why bother? the only way i'll make inspiring music is to have an inspiring time making it. so, that said, the two programs i really like are an old version of cool edit pro and renoise.
so here's the reason i said all that! when i first tried renoise, i didn't really make an effort to learn it in an advanced way. i just made some fun beats using basic functions- and i also enjoyed the little sample editor, refraining from the tedious super-picky sample-accurate editing i usually do. well i found that the results were great and a nice exciting departure from my old style. the native effects are quite nice, and the automation is easy once you want to try it- it's a lot like drawing midi CCs in the old 90s cakewalk pro audio, except it actually works ::} and, of course, it sends midi out with some half-decent implementation (and CC messages). i started messing around with fun looping functions and such... and that's about as far as i've bothered to go with it since i started. that's all i need! it's great fun and it inspires me!
you might want more than that if you're into the multitracking and everything... i like to just leave the ideas raw and unprocessed. half the time i don't even bother doing a multitrack mix, but if you export all the renoise parts to .wav you can do that too. easy!
oh yeah and i guess i was a little late to the party with my post. oh well!
HI I'M NEW
Welcome
Saw you post on b2vos the other day as well - so have you done any other remixes or old style tunes apart from that Altern8 one?
Would be good to hear if you have.
And as you say, renoise is perfect for putting ideas together & also has some good extra little features there to go a bit further if needed.
