Tachnics SL 1210 MK2 Whats It Worth?

Hey guys, I have a spare 1210 that is brand new in box just wondered what I could get for it.

I bought a brand new 1210 from ebay the other week for £350 but couldn't find another one. Then two came up but the guy wouldn't split, so I had to buy the pair for £800! Ended up with 3 brand new 1210's so now I need to sell one.

It is brand new, I only took it out the box, plugged it in to test and straight back in the box.

BTW, this is not a sale thread just wondered what it would be worth and do you think I should keep hold of it for a few months as I might be able to get more for it!

Hard To Find Records are selling these for a grand each!

    Thanks!

keep em and do some 3 deck mixing mate, no but seriously, I noticed the price of these have been increasing since they stopped making them, got mine off fleabay nearly new around 3 years ago for 300 for 2, you'd be lucky to get 1 for that now, price of em has definately risen.

i just sold a near mint, freshly serviced mk2 on ebay for £210, which is about average. for a bnib you could probably squeeze that up to £300 i reckon.

all the rumours of the prices going crazy since they stopped making em only really applies to retail new. the second hand market is still around the same as it always has been. i think you'd have to hold on to them for a very long time before the price went up significantly due to the shere number of second hand ones in circulation.

certainly get more money selling individually than in pairs, that's fo'sure.

Yeah I was bidding on mint 5 year old one the other week and got out bid, final price it went for was 340! Then I bid on a new one but got out bid again @ £450. So prices are definitely going up. I managed to to do a deal outside of ebay with the ones I bought.

I think you are right about retail being able to sell for top dollar but since looking even the used ones are starting to go for silly money if they are in good condition.

As long as I can get my money back I will be happy. If it means holding on to the deck for another year then fair enough. Its just sitting in the spare room doing nowt!

No, I would agree with that,
the price increase I noticed over the past 3 years may have plateaued
in the last few months, I doubt they will increase much more, 1000 pounds is a bit steep
majority of people use those crappy cd players now anyway.

    cd players, what are they?!!

Just see an ex display model on ebay for £630!!

So, you reckon I spend to much on them? I had to do some serious haggling to get them at the price I paid! Maybe because they were BNIB. The pair I had to buy were up for a grand but I got him down to 800 (well 790)

I could have bought used ones but I have a thing about buying used gear. If there was a single mark on them, no matter how small it would have peed me off big time!

the pawn (money supermarket / pikey shop) shops round ere have them in the window all the time lately...

£200 each is the most i seen em up for and they looked MC..

tbh i cant see the price of them shooting right up and staying.... as was mentioned, people use cdj or other upto date makes of turntable so there aint a demand for them and other MKs / Makes are better now... they are no longer 'the industry standard'

if it were me, and i needed the dolla, id bang it gaybay for the price i got it for, or keep it as a spare.

yeah I will pop it on ebay. Like I say as long as I get my money back I am happy.

I was going to buy the stantons but seeing as I have never used them or even seen one in the flesh I stuck with what I know.

Stantons look great but IMO the Technics look even better! But I guess thats another discussion.

depends what ya wanna do with em............

mix on them, or put them next to the china and toby jugs in the display cabnet

always best to go into a shop and try them all out, cos they ALL feel different.... hence i went for the stantons and not the MK5

    good luck

Yes I want to mix on them but they have to look good as well as they will be sitting next to my toby jugs.

I have read many technics v stanton v numark threads before buying and its seems this debate will go on for years!

Still got my original 1210 MK2's I bought in the early 90's. They cost me £369 each at the time. It's quite surprising that the price for them has always been the same as the years have gone by.

yes the debate will flame forever amoungst the brand name purests

my stance. and many others on those 3 names..

    numark = the turntablists choise

stanton = the heavy handed choise (hence i feel comfortable on them more than any others)

technics = the light fairy handed touch (and those scared to move forward with technoligy....... its not 1970s chigargo anymore )

all top of the game but each have their strengths and weaknesses....... its all about personal preff and how you feel comfortable using a turntable.

though as i have said b4............. most 2010 users i know cant use any other kind of turntable... why this is i dont know..... but thats what i have seen and noticed over the last few years?

Yeah that pretty much sums up what I have read.

I agree about people using technics and can't use anything else, just don't get that myself.
