Traktor & Pioneer DDJ T1 Sound delay problems........

Hi all, I hope this is not a daft question, but here goes.I am running Traktor 2 and a Pioneer DDJ T1 on a Dell Laptop with Windows 7, 64 Bit, Intel Core i3 processor and 3GB of RAM. I have connected the master out to an amp with speakers. The system all works fine, however, when cueing a track in the headphones, it seems to play a lot faster than the track coming out of the speakers, hence there appears to be a delay in sound coming out of the speakers. I have the latency set as low as possible and get no drop out, but cannot fathom why there appears to be a difference in speed between headphones and speakers. Consequently, you think you have the beats synced but they are way off when I then mix the tunes.I have tried using a different amp and speakers and the problem still exists. Any advice would be hugely appreciated. Thanks

go into the preferences for traktor and check the latency setting, you want this set to (ideally) 0ms...the bigger the number, the longer the delay in response.

if you still have latency after setting it to zero i'd check your sound card settings and make sure they have latency set to 0ms also

    that should sort it

Setting the latency too low can cause problems - I know it's counter intuitive but it's true honest.
Increase the latency a bit 1st then if that doesn't do the trick tinker with the audio buffer size setting.

sorry but that is utter shite hippie

any latency is a bad thing....especially when in respect to dj software as latency in the program will mean your vinyl movements will take time to register, giving a delay in response. latency in the soundcard will give you a short delay thru the monitors. both of which are not good.

i can't think of any situation when latency is a good thing...

    lol

No computer, software, soundcard or controller invented yet runs at zero latency it's just not possible.
They all take fractions of a second to communicate and do their thing = LATENCY.

yeah i agree on that, just dont agree on setting higher latency levels. get em as low as the software will allow.

as ive said in the past these HID midi devices are nothing like timecodes
they totally hog and spike the cpu unlike timecodes which use hardly any resources.

You really do need a top spec computer to run these things on i7 with 4GB
in reality should be the min spec ! "Oh i know it sound excessive!"

if your getting problems try changing the latency to 128 [2ms] or 256 [5ms]
trying to run a HID Midi device at 64 [1ms] will effect it's preformance on
a low to mid end computer.

if you looked on NI Or Serato Itches Forum you would see loads of threads
regarding the the i3 and i5 chip not been efficient enough and countless
amounts of threads about windose 7!
