What Styli Are Using On Your Turnatables?

I was just wondering what styli people use on their turntables and in your opinion which are the best styli to get?

    I am currently using Stanton 505 V3

    Stanton 505 V3 Cartridge

They serve their purpose and i have had no problems with them so far but what are the best styli for when i need to get them replaced with?

Bare in mind that that they are for home use and not club use

been using ortofon concorde scratch carts and needles for years. quality despite the vile colouring!

my backup set are a pair of sure m44-7s, which used to be great until they started getting the replacement needles made in China and the lifetime on em dropped off dramatically.

i really rate the ortofons across the board. and they have the bonus that all the carts are the same...it's just the needles that change for the model so if you you're not fussed about matching cart to stylus you can pick up the carts cheap and buy whatever needle you want for it

I'm using Ortofon Concorde Nightclub. I've always used Ortofon and I've always rated them. You can get Version 2 of the Nightclub here: Ortofon Concorde Nightclub 2 Cartridge pricey though.

best to use ones with low tracking force imo, wears your Vinyls out less quick, Shure ones are pretty good

There all quite expensive carts and styli you are all using - but you get what you pay for

I'll have to enquire what carts and styli i can use for my turntables and then make my mind up

Stanton GroovemasterV3 s and G3 and T3 styli (I started with some straight arm Vestax decks and upgraded to Technics, hence needing both elliptical and spherical styli).

Don't forget to check the price of replacement styli, how many styli come with the carts, and what shape the styli are, when choosing carts.

A small bottle of isopropyl alcohol is a worthwhile investment tooo imo, for cleaning the styli. I plop them in an ultrasonic cleaner filled with the alcohol to clean them and they come out like new again, a soak and a gentle brush would be as good tho if you've not got an ultrasonic cleaner already.

Just ordered a pair of Shure M44-7's. My mate has them and they stick to the record like glue.

I think the problem with the stantons now is finding somewhere that stocks an original stanton replacement styli, I don't know if it's because they were/are so popular, but everywhere I go locally they only stock cheap copy styli, and they aren't a patch on the real deal, they don't sound as good, and they wear out faster Probably get some original styli online, but I hate waiting for the post, I prefer to go to the shop n just buy some, especially if you've just broken one and need a replacement quickly.

I'm still using 1 Stanton 500 (with said crappy copy stylus) and 1 ..... wait for it..........

Ortofon Concord Scratch (with a DJ stylus at the mo)

I was sold on the Ortofons from the first time I tried my m8's decks who was using them, they really were a world apart from the Stanton 500's, no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get the buggers to jump, stuck in that groove like glue.

Deffo gonna try some Sure needles soon though, as they have just as good, if not better reputation, especially among the turntablist/scratch DJ camp.
