Curly & Haze can confirm that wavs are better then 320 mp3s when mixing - if you are mixing 320 mp3s through the whole set that's fine or all wavs but when you mix a mixture of wavs and mp3s the sound quality difference can be heard.

A lot of sense in that--can just toss the wav on the dvd, catalog it, and worry about processing later--thanks for the tip!

This is true - a lot does depend on the quality of rips in the first place

Been thinking about this thread all weekend, and all I'm going to add while that lanky git ain't around is that when I stood in Curly's studio and listened to the 3 different rips, I know what I heard, man... and no one can argue with my ears

I'm with Swipezster on this one. The wav is far better for mixing with, you hear the bass as true as you can, an mp3 is far inferior. I did the test for Swipes to prove it to both of us. That said, I did an experiment in a club a few weeks back on a decent rig, the 320's would have been ample to use but they have to be good rips just like the wavs have to be. I even went down to a good 128 rip and although I wouldn't have used it for my set, it didn't sound too bad. Then I put a wav on and you could tell the difference right away. If it's just for home use, whether that's mixing or just listening, stick to a 320 or even 192.

yeh i reckon 320's are aceptable on a rig but wav's and flac's are the one if your really looking for the depth of sound and for maximum possible aplification
