All those in the know about recording tape to MP3

Right I am a non technology type girl who wants to be able to transfer her tapes onto MP3 quickly and easily with minimum wiring and gadetry needed. We do not have a tape player in our house but I have seen this little device on Firebox - have any of you used it or know anyone who has? What I want to know is does it work and is it worth me buying?

You can do the same thing with an ordinary walkman, instead of the USB there's the 3.5 mm jack plug, straight into the microphone socket..

looks like it should work pretty well.

just make sure you set the recording volume right otherwise you'll end up with your digital versions either being very quiet or over loud and distorted.

plenty of folks to help out if you get stuck though

Wouldn't I need some kind of software to convert the file to MP3 afterwards though?

Cheers for pointing out that it's cheaper at Maplin Malgossno!

I use sound forge to record audio on to my computer & to convert audio into different sound formats. But if you buy that USB Tape Express I'd imagine that would come with software.

Check out Enfield Pauls response here - he has one and he says it comes with software which is easy to use.
