    Am i missing it?

I seem to remember reading a thread on here some time ago regarding ripping the vocal off tracks and the correct way of doing it but now i can't find it. Anyone remember said thread?

I don't know about the thread but I know a little about the technique. It's known as phase inversion and is very hard to do.

What is the vocal you're wanting to rip?

Even with cd rips it's damn near impossible.
How these 'Diy Acapellas' ever got done properly is beyond me.

Been trying to get the Johhny L acapella done for ages using a cd rip & the phase inversion / centre channel rippers etc but no luck yet...

Yeah it's pretty tough from what I've heard. The reason being because you need to have the frequencies of the music part in both the instrumental and vocal versions of the track the same and most of the time they're not plus the tempo has to be exactly right too.

You can try the likes of Knockout but I've always found them to be shit.

I'm after the choir vocal from Gerald McCann - Cry Little Sister (Lost Boys Theme) - but only the choir. I've heard it in tunes but it either has the whole bar in it or it sounds ropey. A friend sent me a karaoke version but the same problem applies. I'm guessing its been tried a million times but i'd still like a crack anyway. Actually thats a lie - i'd like someone to have the sample or just do it for me but still....

Do you mean the "thou shall not vocal"? Or the background to that?

Hmm, I'll have to search for the vocal but I can get you the sample with the vocal, choir sustained notes and the slow drum beats in wav form if you want.

I've got the wav of the Force & The Evolution track that doesn't have any male singing but it does have the drum and pad in the background. I'm searching for the sample for you at the moment.

Can't find it at all. Sorry mate. I could try to extract it from the Force & The Evolution track, might take some time though.

I've given it a shot but it all comes out with a really washy effect and would be unusable.

I have the original Lost Boys CD album, so will rip & see what can be done - failing that, I'll get it up'd.

nice one RG. I doubt it'll make a difference but the version that the film intro's with hasn't got the main vocal - just in case you were trying to extract it from the single. I'm guessing the pads are the main problem though.

I have the original dvd as well somewhere & a prog to extract audio from them.

Tried the album, but removing the blokes vocal won't work. Can remove most of the beats & most of the rest though - but still not perfect.
