I've got a tip that might work, in fact I've just tried it out using my iPod and headphones...

If you hold your headphone jack and pull it slightly out of the iPod / stereo or whatever the sound will 'split'. You'll hear the singer's voice echoing in the distance when you've done it correctly...

When the chorus comes in you can hear the choir really clear and this should give you a good start for trying to clean it up - Playing around with the EQ levels in your audio editor should give you a decent result. I suppose if you can do this with a device connected to the computer using a jack lead you should get the same effect.

    Good luck!

Tried the album, but removing the blokes vocal won't work. Can remove most of the beats & most of the rest though - but still not perfect.
    The other version:

    DivShare File - lost boys.wav

That sample is on this too... Might be useful, dunno?

DJ Dance - Death By Stereo (Vinyl) at Discogs

Don't expect to be buying a copy though...

That's interesting because that might mean that the vocal isn't centered on the original recording.

Definitely 100% works with headphones - it's SO CLEAR! Blokes voice is way in the distance too. But when I try connecting iPod to computer with my 3.5mm lead i can't get it to catch in the right place. Might have to try another lead. I'll keep plugging away at it cause it'll bug me until it works!

I know the film well - if you go right to the end where Kiefer Sutherland dies there's a great bit with just the chorus! Why didn't I think of that before?

I think i know what you're trying to do there. I get it all the time while mixing & jumping about. Jack pops out halfway & confuses the hell out of me. Out the box thinking sir

Part 1 (from the start of the film)

zSHARE - lost boys ch3 - vox.rar - Free File Hosting Service | Audio and Video Sharing | Image Uploading | Web storage

Part 2 (when he drinks the blood)
    Part 3 (when David dies)

zSHARE - vox 23.rar - Free File Hosting Service | Audio and Video Sharing | Image Uploading | Web storage

Well done! That's amazing! The very end part is practically a perfect acappella version!

    Enjoyed that challenge.

If you could find a section with just the background pads and drums playing (I'm sure the melody starts out like that?) the it's possible to phase invert it.

The audio is split into 6 parts :

Left, Right, Centre (which is where the vocals are), back left & right & sub.
    They are all mono parts.

Since the centre channel has nothing else on it, trying to add the other channels & inverting won't do much in this case.
