Help with old tapes...
Ok... Not sure where to put this one...
I have a tape that was covered in cider about 15 years ago & won't turn in the casette it is in... I want to know what is the best way to clean the ribbon (if that's what it's called) of the tape?
I will quite happily remove the ribbon from it's original cassette housing & put it in a new housing... That part is easy...
Is there anything i shouldn't use to clean it?

some info there mate .....distilled water can help the stuff you top car batterys up with .... also could be worth opening the tape up and tranfering the reels to a fresh new body ...
chances are the tape has glued to the plastic anti friction strips inside .
i have remove the reals from several old tapes and put them in new cases .... look for a blank tape that has screws holing it together rather than glue
