The Holy Grail Of Music Management?

Over the years I've tried lots of different software to organise, convert, re-name my ever growing collection.

Windows media Player, iTunes, Magix MP3 Converter and Winamp to name but a few.

But over the last week I have been trying out Mediamonkey. I did try it a couple of years ago but never got into it, but I thought I would give it another go and really see what it has to offer.

All I can say is wow, it pi##es all over the others and it's quite frankly an amazing piece of software.

From re-naming files, filling in Tag information, conversion, it does it all and it does it all perfectly.

I was so impressed I bought myself a lifetime licence ($19 for current version licence, $39 for a lifetime licence)

I had been using the free version, which does everything, but the Gold version has quite a few things which I will find useful as I get to grips with it.

You can check it out yourself here: MediaMonkey » Free Media Jukebox, Music Manager, CD Ripper & Converter

If you haven't tried it yet then get yourself the free version and give it a go. I've been looking at the information on version 4 which should be out sometime soon and that looks even better.

I think I have now found the holy grail of music management software.

A member on here kindly gave me a cracked copy via PM and I had a good look at it - just too busy for my liking, but the stuff it can do is tremendous, if not deep.

However, I like things simple, me

Yes it does seem to have a much steeper learning curve than some of the others out there I must admit. But like with anything it just takes practice and a little bit of thought.

I think for those serious about how their collections are and how they look, it's the prefect tool.

I've been using this for a while - brilliant piece of kit.

Does everything i wanted it to & more. Taking me an eternity to sort everyting out on there but thats because of the amount of files i have & pillocks that have no idea how to tag properly.

Has crashed on me a few times but seeing as it saves after every entry tis not a biggie.

The only thing I'm not 100% happy with is the look of it. It has a kind of basic look which can be off-putting (I do like pretty things) I know you can add different skins to make it more appealing, but I haven't found one yet which I love.

I think version 4 will change that, as there are a few screen shots of version 4 and it looks fantastic.

But like with anything, looks aren't everything and it's what something can do that's important.
