I have recently downloaded some lossless files in ape format but not many players recognise this file extension so they won't play. To convert them to wav is very simple.

I usually convert mine by swinging down off a branch with a great big ape file under my arms, slapping it into a floppy disk slot in my puter and shouting at it "ohhh arr arrr"
