    matroska video ?

    help me

i didnt know this section was here lol
anyway i need help people i have a lot of manga but i cant get it to work streaming on my xbox 360

i looked in to it a bit and as far as i can see its because the file type (mkv i think) xbox dont like these

so i use avi as a rule (it works lol) so can i convert the mkv files to avi and how ?

i know this might not be the best way as i think mkv is about the same as avi (if not better ?) but streaming to my xbox is the way i watch stuff and it would be nice to see all that manga on my tv

again any help would be nice thanks

    Mkv ftw

You can either stream from a PC to the 360 with something like tversity Or convert them to avi or wmv and transfer them to the 360 to play them.
Encode360 used to be the way to go but it's been a while since I last had a look at it all tbh as I use an acer revo running xbmc hooked up to the tv for all my media needs now. I think the developer had to stop working on it and has a similar tool called EncodeHD instead now lol.

AVForums is usually good for all things AV

Do the mkv files play on the PC for you?
If not then you need to install some codecs. I used Shark's Shark007's FREE Codec solutions - Windows 7 codecs as people were reporting problems with Klite and CCCP and Windows 7 and DXVA at the time. After a quick look on AVForums, they say the DivX pack DivX Plus Codec Pack works well streaming to the 360.
If they play on the PC they should stream to the 360 aswell.

Or an easier way to play files if you have a ps3 is to use mkv2vob which will transcode the mkv file to burn to a dvd/pendrive etc and then playback on your ps3 faultless.

I use this for movies etc on the ps3, just open the file with the program hit add and it will transcode the file if needed and also split the file if it's over 4gig in size as a usb pendrive for a ps3 has to be formated in Fat32 not ntfs like windows 7 etc so the max file size is 4gb.

The program is awesome as you still get 5.1 sound and don't loose any quality off 720p or 1080p video \o/.

And no need to install any bs codec packs which is a good thing really.
