I've just tried 'free mp3 joiner' on google & got some results. Not used any myself, so can't comment on which ones are any good.

    Google

If you are trying to join tracks from a mix cd, then I'll warn you that there will still be a very slight gap between each track - it's just the way mp3s are.

The Direct one (about) 4th one down is probably your best bet.

If it's any help, I burned a CD with iTunes yesterday (which I've never done before) and you can join tracks up as an option with preferred gap in between tracks

I use Audacity for everything audio related, its really good, and it will do merging too

"import" all the files, and you will have all your tracks shown in the window, then simply "cut" and "paste" each track onto the first and finally "export" as mp3

using "cut" also makes it really easy to trim off any silences in any of the mp3 if you need to

    you can download audacity from
    Audacity: Windows

and the mp3 codec (for exporting) for audacity from
    http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/Lame_v3.98...on_Windows.exe

The official help page on how to merge files
Audacity: How do I combine two files into one longer file?

    MergeMP3

    I use mergeMP3:

    Program Features
The features of the program are not numerous - but everything you need is here:

    • Merge as many files as you like - no limitations by size, length, or number.
    • Sort files to be merged by filename (with or without directory), date/time or size.
    • Optionally write ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags into the merged MP3 file.
    • Optionally write VBR frame into the merged file - useful when merging files with different bitrates.
    • View detailed information about MP3 files to be merged, including MPEG header information and ID3v1 and ID3v2 information.
    • Choose to use ID3 tag from any of the files to be merged to write into the target file.
    • Display an image embedded into the MP3 files.
    • Play MP3 files from the list to be merged.
    • No complicated installation - simply unzip the program and run from any directory.
    • Very intuitive interface.
    • Very fast merge speed.
    • It's absolutely FREE!
I've never run into any problems at all using this and its fast.
