You have to be online on the Discogs website to get the info Bar - search your artist and then highlight the numbers on the end of the url and then copy and paste it into the mp3tag box

    Success!!

Got it working at last. Seemed to wwork when I used another program rather than 7-Zip to unzip Discogs file and put the unzipped files into sources etc. on the MP3Tag folder in my program files (x86).

Now cracking through the process, cheers again for everybodys help. Can't wait to record my first digital Old Skool DJ mix.

Best program for unraring/unzipping files is Winrar

Getting this weird info (or lack of it today) when I tried tagging:

I'm hoping it's the Discogs site having a spaz attack with it's directory, but if it's updated it could make tagging with the URL ID number obsolete
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software, but same thing is happening. Would anybody be so kind enough to have a butchers for me so I can determine if it's anything my end?

It's not just you m8, Discogs have changed something (as they do) so the script isn't quite working properly anymore.
Keep an eye on this thread for an update
[WS] Discogs Album search + VA - Mp3tag Forums
There's an explanation of what they've changed and a fix for another script already so I'd expect an updated script to be released in a few days.

looks like that pone geeza has fixed it, will check it out. Discogs have changed their script and apparently it's a recurring theme.

    Cheers Hippie

Nope, the update I downloaded wasn't relevant with reading the 'Cogs ID number.

Like Hippe said, just keep an eye on the thread

    Update

I've joined the mp3tag forum, and this clever fella member pone has been very helpful - seems 'Cog's server was having a few issues but you still need pone's 3.7 update (more info later) as Discogs have changed the way their script works or summat. I found installing the 3.7 update difficult and messy, and have invited pone to take a gander over here at my guide and clarify a few things... if we don't frighten him off first

Original post amended and it should all work fine now.

Discussing it over the mp3tag forum with the member pone, he says that basically 'Cogs was having a few issues of it's own and that everything works fine now with his 3.7 update - he admits himself that it is quite complicated to install the update, and I can assure you it is - but if you read the thread I've posted step-by-step carefully, there should be no problems.

If you can't be bothered updating because it just looks too much work, I'm of the opinion that you shouldn't be tagging in the first place. I'll reiterate my first post: it takes time and dedication to tag... but your oldskool collection deserves it

When you get to this part

Open the Extended Tags Window and edit the tag-field values of Discogs Pone Web Script Settings.mp3 to customize the script

What field do you click on Swipezster it doesn't say?

I do all the tagging myself via details off Discogs & putting pics in the folders, takes fookin' ages (about 48 hours to do my 1991 folder) but it's worth it

Many thanks pone and welcome , give us a little info about yourself here mate Introduce Yourself and make yourself at home

Surely there's a simpler way to tag using mp3tag off a Discogs release ID?

There are 14 different versions of my script. Each representing a different way to search discogs:

API List Artist, API List Label
These list all etries of the artist or label which are on discogs. You have to to use the correct discogs name here, not a artist name variation.

Direct by Discogs ID, Direct by URL (www)
These go straight to the page by the Discogs ID or the URL

Search by (Album)Artist, Search by (Album)Artist + Album, Search by (Album)Artist + Label, Search by (Album)Artist + Title, Search by (Album)Artist + Year, Search by Album, Search by Album + Label, Search by Album + Year, Search by Label + Catalog#
    These use discogs advanced search

    Standard Search
Uses discogs standard search, you can use any search word from which you think it's suiteable
