You are best of ripping it into a format like AVI first to give the DVD a smaller file. If you try and RAR 4gb worth of DVD file you will end up with about 40 RAR files.

EDIT: i'm not sure of any free programmes to do this as all the stuff I have I have bought and paid for.

    Try http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/

Useful and very easy tool (no spyware either). Only downside is they will need HJ Split to put back together. Its Free.

    Re: Ripping DVD Help

to do the rip, i would use dvdshrink ... and as posted above dvdfab platinum is very good at converting to avi's

depending on how big ya want ya rar files to be, just be sure to put 6 zero's after the file size ya want

    i.e. 400000000 would be a 400mb rar

If any of my uploads have dead links, please PM me for a re-up

    DVDx and WinRAR

DVDx or AutoGK are always good for a quick and easy rip solution or if you wanted to get a little more technical then you can't beat TMPgenc

But for ease of use, DVDx or AutoGK is quick.

Once you have ripped you're DVD you can then use WinRAR to to RAR it up into a multi-part rar file at you're selected size.

If you need any help let me know =)

    Check
AutoGK Homepage - THE tool for XviD / DivX conversion - Downloads
for AutoGK. Convert your DVD to an Avi file in one run... Very simple to use.

To split the Avi-File to several .rar files check
How to create split rar archives ? - VDOWN
you also need winrar to do this.
