Tape squeak/screech.
Does anyone have problem with this? I'm currently trying to rip tapes and some start to squeak usually about 5 mins before the end. By the time the tape ends its a very loud screech that copies over to the recording. Someone told me to fast forward/rewind the tape a few times before recording to make it taut - but this make no different or maybe makes it delay slightly or a tad quieter for a while.
Anyone know how to overcome this problem as I have some packs where it happens on every tape. I dont think its my player as others are fine.

The X-PUFFA NON SMOKAH
if FULLY winding back and forward both in the tape deck AND with a pencil dont stop it..
could be that the tape is wound too tightly or the wheels are strugging to turn easly
i always open up the tape and make sure the tape and the wheels are sitting correctly in the housing.
99% of the time that sorts it

Started trying to rip the United Dance tapes I received this week and its defintiely getting worse. It used to be small squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak near the end of the tape. Now its a squuuuuuuuuuueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkkkkkkk k constantly and its starting earlier thro the tape. I think its the player as I'm convinced not all tapes could be that bad.
Gutted I cant rip, or even properly listen to the tapes yet.
