Youtubedownloader will let you convert them from flv to mp3.
Ok thank you Mortis, ill give that a go now. I must have about 30 vids to convert, that'll keep me busy for a bit lol
Where is the safest place to get this from? Just be my luck to download a virus
I will start probably the 68th debate on here why not to convert YT vids to mp3... basically because the quality's crap - keep posting interesting stuff fella (not bad so far) and soon you'll open the virtual door to a bunch of goodies so awesome, you'll joyshit your kegs

If you use Firefox there's a great one that I use called DownloadHelper.
Or:
Let the Youtube video play in Safari.
Click on the WINDOW tab at the top.
Click ACTIVITY and a long list of files will appear.
The video will be the largest file on there so just double click and it'll start downloading.

imo this might be good for other purposes than listening or mixing,
... i mean it's ok ripping the mp3 and trying someone to ID, as you most likely are getting about 64 kbps Mono or 96 kbps Mono...

The converter I have rips at 192k but the quality still isnt good tbh. I think if you want em for home use and can except the poor quality then ok fair enough but if you want something to mix or play out with then the you tube rips are no use at all.Originally Posted by cholo
Agreed...the converter I use allegedly converts @ 128; but the quality is always variable depending on the YT upload itself. I again use the rips for home mixing purposes, until I can replace it with a better MP3 rip from someone here or elsewhere; it's a matter of having what's not available or been made available on here or in any juicy folders etc; why I always (unfortunately) keep requesting stuff!
It's a good starting basis and a way of getting direct access to lots of music suddenly available that wasn't before...not without a Beckham sized bank balance to obtain on vinyl and that's only been made more accessible since the invention of sites like Discogs etc, where you can source exactly what you're looking for, not have to wait for the to crop up on ebay and then try to win the bids.
I still would much rather have everything on vinyl, but realistically I couldn't afford what I wanted and have; so for me these options are the way to go to at LEAST have the music and access to it and to play around withBut as far as recreational use goes, keeps me entertained and slightly sane.....for a short while
It does't matter if that app converts to 128 or even 192 kbps, because the source is poor -> so the result is poor,
but of course , ok if that's good enough for you, enjoy!
I found a really good program called hyper converter it converts to whatever you need flac wav mp3.
You can also use this: JDownloader.org - Official Homepage
When you copy a youtube link while this programme is open, it will paste this link with various options for downloading. All you have to do is select the audio file or MP3 file and delete the rest as you don't want the video. It will then download just the audio and nothing else.
Great programme and free.
