Anyone know of a good Zonealarm Alternative?

Since installing Windows 7, I've had to install a full version of Zonealarm instead of the Free one (as that one isn't compatible).
Now I've noticed that when I upload anything big (be it music / rar files / pictures etc), they usually end up getting corrupted, so anyone trying to download them gets a messed up file.
(Tried several tests over the last day through emails & uploads to places like rapidshare / yousendit etc).

Just discovered that after turning Zonealarm off & re-uploading, they worked properly with no corruption, so looks like this is the culprit.

Now all I need is some sort of replacement program that will alert me when software on the pc tries to access the internet like Zonealarm does.

    Any ideas?

Will give it a go - as long as it blocks stuff on the pc trying to access the net, then it should be fine
    Cheers.

Well it installed, but kept saying 'not fully compatible' as I have Windows 7.
It also won't appear in the taskbar, but does appear in the running processes, so it is running - whether it will do it's job is another question as it hasn't asked if anything is allowed to connect (firefox for eg opened up without it asking).

i just read that the developement of spfw is stopped since symantec bought the company.
the last version runs like a charme on xp, but seems not to work fully with windows7.

Comodo Firewall is another tip if i has to be freeware.

I only use paid for stuff i'm afraid BB.

Webroot is great and does the job.

Also Norton 360 and Kaspersky are good.

I'm sure there are cracked versions out there though.

But all the above are compatible with windows 7

Well Norton isn't something I'm gonna touch & Kaspersky is a virus killer isn't it?
I've looked up webroot, but there are lots of different ones - is there one just for firewalls, or is it an all in one virus killer / spyware type prog?

Webroot use to do just a free firewall, it was actually really good but they seem to have scrapped it in favour of either

    Spysweeper
    spysweeper with anti virus
    security essentials

I've done a google search and it seems you can still grab it. It may also be worth getting Microsofts security essentials which is free is you are a Windows 7 user.

I've read a couple of reviews and it seems to be a pretty good free package.
