    Apple iPad

Anyone got one or played with one yet?

A mate bought one on Friday (release day), I thought what is the point, oversized iPhone! Then I saw this....

Maybe they might be worth the price after all!

    Re: Apple iPad

I've had a play around with it (we have them at work) I also witnessed the sad folk on Friday's launch foaming at the mouth waiting at the door

It's a nice bit of kit, but it's just a giant IpodTouch.

    I need help
I know they're overpriced underpowered toys designed to bring in huge new advertising revenues for Apple but I still want 1 just for mapping with Traktor (see youtube for more videos of TouchOSC and OSCulator like the 1 in the OP)

I can't believe there are no alternatives for touchscreen apps to run alongside games or apps like DJ software where we need a user definable low latency multitouch control surface. I'm sure gamers would jump all over the chance to have a simple screen they could hook upto their gaming rigs and lay flat on the desk to use as a controller like the MS touch table "surface" that never really materialised, that we could use with DJ apps aswell.
I know there are programs like monotouch live for touchscreens and alternatives to the Ipad using the Android platform on their way but Apple seem to have the only low latency device with enough multitouch accuracy for the job atm. Looking closely at the multitouch screens available atm the buttons, knobs, faders etc would have to be huge on the screen to allow for the inaccuracy of the touch sensors. And the Andriod devices are still in their early infancy so it's gonna be a while before we see any real competition there.

Please some1 tell me a touchscreen is coming that I can use as a keyboard/controller so I don't have to buy an Ipad
And don''t tell me to buy a Jazzmutant Lemur btw, I definitely can't afford 1 of those. And I've got some Stanton SCS3ds already thanks

I don't buy anything new from Apple until it's been out at least a year!! That way you usually get the upgraded version anyway once they've ironed out the initial issues.....

played with one on monday. as already said by others, it's a big iphone/ipod touch and it's not something i need or want...i'll stick with my regular sized iphone thanks.

as a logic plugins midicontroller though it's got some serious potential. bit of an expensive controller though
