How Do You Burn Yours ?

    hiya oldskoolers

after burning a few cds last night with trax that were ripped @ 320kbps then playing then on my cd player im convinced windows media player is just crap at burning cds

or could a crap quality cdr be to blame, they wernt the cheapest but they wernt expensive either !!

im still having sound quality problems compared to playing vinyl through the same mixer

or is that to be totally expected playing from vinyl to cd ?

what do you guys use to burn your cd's

    thanx

give nero a go if you're using windoze

though dont ever expect an upgrade in sound quality if you're burning mp3 to cd as the program you use to burn first has to convert that mp3 into wav audio...that's usually where any crapness can occur.

i shan't bore everyone (again) by ranting about how mp3 to full audio is a waste of time....

The type of cd-r won't make a different to sound quaility - only how long it may last.

    I use Nero.

There is no point in converting mp3 to WAV, it will not make the track sound any better.

When making a CD you can either burn it as a 70 minute CD to play on any CD player or you can burn it as a 700mb data CD. A standard CD player will not play a Data CD because it will not recognize mp3 files, but your CDJ/PC will, & probably your DVD player. The advantage of this is that you will get 4/5 albums (at 320k) on one CD & if you decide to copy the tracks back from your Data CD to your PC you will not be transcoding (i.e a 320k mp3 will still be a 320k mp3).

Basically, if your burning mp3s burn as a data disc, if you are burning WAV/FLAC or any other lossless file then burn as a proper 70 minute CD.

I use Verbatim CD/DVDs and they work a treat. Use IMGBurn for your burning. Small, compact, bloody good and not full of shit bloatware like Nero etc.
