yes and no.
yes you can have as many playlists as you like on your ipod. what you put in them is up to you. i have genre and artist playlists as the ipod doesnt duplicate the file if it's in more than 1 playlist.
no you can't copy from an ipod onto a pc or mac. i've even tried plugging someone elses ipod into my mac and seeing if you can drag tunes across to itunes but it wont let you. i think there is a hack out there that will allow you to use your ipod like a regular usb drive, but i wouldn't recommend doing that tbh.

I am a bit surprised you can't copy your tunes from your Ipod to a PC to be honest - i thought it might be like an mp3 player where you can copy the tunes onto your PC![]()

i believe that's what they call digital rights management![]()
if you browse the files on an ipod from a pcor mac from anything other than itunes you can't find any of the music files at all. proof that apple use magic imo![]()
if you search the net there are programs which allow you to take the music form the ipod on to a pc/mac. just put in a search engine ipod to pc transfer software.
ive done it before and it works fine.
Thanks Haze![]()
I just done a google search to see if anyone has cracked it.

Which programs did you use Dogg?
I-Pods are a pain in the ar*e!
They have a very different file structure to a normal mp3 player (which works like a normal usb type drive) so making it impossible to put tunes on or off without special software (ie - i-tunes).
But there is a prog out there which can rip any mp3 from the i-pod onto the pc as I put it on my missus old laptop years ago (but that laptop is long since dead, so can't get u the name of the program).
All it did was pull the tunes off into a folder.
It won't copy protected files though (such as certain wma files).
Better off with a nice mp3 player like the ones creative do - much cheaper per gb & more rugged than the posy i-pod.
have a look at http://www.ilounge.com
its a good forum with loads of sotware and advice . i cant off the top of my head remember what the software i used was called.
ooh that is good info dogg. confess i never even googled the subject as i've only ever used my ipod with either my macbook or my imac (get me, the mac fan boy!)

Software suggestions:
Ipod > PC, try 'ephpod'
Ipod > Mac, try 'ipod rip'
Both of these are demo licence as you download them but you can usually find serials if needed (try youser.ials.com)
Hope this is of some use
