    Mediafire Upload Problem [Sorta Sorted]

Uploaded a wav fine this morning, then dragged into the new-look Mediafire a couple of mp3s and this message came up:

I've tried uploading from my desktop and also an external drive, but no luck. I don't know how Mediafire can read the file as a folder, as it is clearly marked as an mp3.
I uploaded from the new-look MF earlier in the week at home no probs, can't see how my PC at work would be any different?

Ermmm, also please no posts like:

"I hate Mediafire because they are bastards and I don't use them so I wouldn't know"

    or

"Open a Rapidshare account, they're the bestest"

as I've got nearly 4000 files on my MF account, thank-er-you very much.

Msprim & China, looking to you on this one - I haven't got a paid account

So the actual upload has failed or is it on your account?

My guess is that mediafire can't read a WAV as an audio file. It won't see it is an MP3 because it isn't an MP3 (unless of course you've uploaded WAV's before without a problem? )

    Two things you can try:

    1) Before uploading the WAV, stick .mp3 on the end of the file name
    2) If the file has uploaded but isn't recognised, then rename the file and stick .mp3 at the end of it.

No China - read the post again mate. I hear what you're saying, I was just using an example that I'd uploaded a wav fine and in the same uploading bundle were 2 normal 320 mp3s, which is where I'm having the probs.

    Sorry for the misunderstanding

I haven't been on Mediafire for a couple of weeks but if they have a new look this is probably the issue - get onto Mediafire via the site and explain your problem - it's probably a small bug which happens when they change the site and if you don't tell them they can't fix it. They will sort it out for you and you won't lose your files.

I also find if you are trying to move files to a folder on Mediafire it won't do it sometimes - so i create the folder and then upload in that folder i want my uploads to be in.

    Hope this helps

*EDIT* I'll have a go now and see if i have any issues

Just watched a video on Mediafire about the new features.

When you want to upload you create a folder you want the files to be - you open up the folder on your pc where the files you want to upload are - highlight the files and drag to your newly created folder (when not opened)and then click on upload.

But i will try this now for myself and see how i get on

*EDIT* When i tried to drag & drop files to the newly created folder nothing was happening so i opened the newly created folder and tried to drag and drop and still nothing happened - a window then popped up saying drag and drop was unavailable as you need html 5 or higher but i could upload the same as the older version of Mediafire.

The drag and drop feature doesn't work for me Swipezster as you need html 5 or higher. So i have the feature to add files like the older version of Mediafire maybe this is your problem

For some reason Mediafire is thinking you are trying to upload a folder which is only available to Premium Mediafire users.

I'd say contact Customer Services via Mediafire site

Strange one is that, just having a guess here, but have you tried making a .rar file out of the mp3? If mediafire is having a problem with the file extension then just change it.

I've not been able to upload there for about 2 weeks, everytime I try it gets halfway through then restarts, I seem to have this problem everytime they make changes to the site.

You could try clearing your java cashe too, mediafire makes heavy use of java, so it could be a problem with that.

    Cool

the drag and drop method is working fine for me mate ... multi file uploading is a doddle

but, if ya struggling with it, there is still the option of uploading by manually selecting files as before

If any of my uploads have dead links, please PM me for a re-upload

uploading now actually at home... must be some kind of weird firewall at work or something; then again, it uploaded a wav fine and didn't like the mp3s

I'll put it down to MF having a moan which it's known to do from time to time !

Defo some weird goings on with work's PC - shows that all uploads have failed, but when I log on at home, they are there, fine & dandy

Weird one, but sorted! (I think)

Maybe if you delete the temporary internet files and all browsing history - clear cache etc on the works computer this might solve the problems

I do that every session, trust me

At work at the mo and have just uploaded 13 tunes - took less than 3 minutes , came up "Failiure" on all uploads, then pressed F5 (or as Curly puts it - "your posh refresh button") and lo & behold they're all there. Summat to do with the new interface I would have thought, but I'm counting my blessings - couldn't upload to MF at all last year!

The only problem i have with the "new" Mediafire is when i have uploaded stuff to a folder when i click on share to get the download link it takes ages to copy the link - it's like on a go slow mission

I read that msprim, but paid no attention to your post - I'm still chuckling to myself like a 5 year old that laughs at his own wee splashing on the floor/his sister at Curly's "posh refresh button" thing... sod it, you had to be there, trust me

Lock zee thread, puh-lease Mr. Admins
