My ION tape express is DEAD

I purchased an ION tape express, tape player/ripper from Maplins at the end of july.
Now, it has had a bit of use, I will admit. But it has started to fail already. I first noticed a few days ago when ripping a pack, and the tapes were playing really slow and sounded crap. I put it down to the tape pack makers using cheap tapes and that was that. I gave up on the rip, but now I'm trying it again with my own decent tapes and it sound the same. sort of slow, and slurrrry . and it sounds bloody awfull.
it came with 12 months warranty, should I return it to Maplins tomorrow even though I no longer have the reciept, but can show proof of purchase via a bank statement.
It has pissed me off as its only a few months old and already falling apart..
cheap crap, but it aint cheap

they are made of cheap rubbish. mien i had to replace, and the replacement will sometimes switch to mono. you have to mess around with the direction button to get stereo back. does the job but very very cheap
Wanted tapes/MP3's,flyers anything from Ark in Leeds, will trade or buy

Take it back mate with your bank statement. If I were you I'd cough up the extra few quid and get a decent one - the ION brand isn't a very good one at all - sort of like The Noughties "Bush"

I've emaolied the Maplin customer service people to let them know I am pretty unhappy with this product, and that I shall be returning the item to them in the near future.

i use a sony tape player from my seperates system, all plugged into my mixer and from the mixer into the pc, then back out of the pc back into the mixer. no fucking about involved. pretty much everything i need audio wise goes through the mixe. those ion things are pointless while you can still use old tech imo

The RRP on this piece of trash is £49.99
But it aint even worth 1/3 of that imho.
I only went that route as my laptop dont have a soundcard input on it and USB was the only way in... Its heading back to Maplins at the end of this week...gonna get me a refund

I took the thing back to Maplins yesterday, and even though I had no reciept they found the purchase date on their computer and gave me a brand new replacement. Just got to wait for it to be delivered to my home as they had none in stock. Result!!
so the ripping will continue in the new year.
