Had a look at this, naughty bit of software. Looks on the face of it to be a safety feature (blocking access to rude sites etc) probably used in schools. What it ALSO does is record exactly what the user is doing online.

To remove netintelligence, you'll need to access that webpage control panel. So go ahead and create an account, log in, get your unique removal password, then go to add/remove programmes on your computer and remove the bastard!

Looks like they've signed up this lot to provide your AV etc etc. Now, I'm not sure if they are actually monitoring what you're doing (hang on for C-R with his NWO theories on this one!) or whether they're just equipping you with free AV as part of the program. You can also get free AV from places such as avast, which I use for my home PC's.

Looking at that it would seem they want you to register on there to actually activate the product. Whether this means you then adhere to the specific policy of the group/company that have provided your machine however I am not so sure.

The core features of the product include:

    •Web Management
    •Asset Management
    •Anti-Virus
    •Anti –Spyware
    •Usage Reporting

So you cannot discount them knowing what you are doing depending on how this is all configured. Do you have your own personal ISP account? Is this new PC yours for keeps or is it going back at some point? When you go to your control panel > Add/Remove Programs, is this program removable? ie. when you highlight it is the option there to uninstall?

Netintelligence is designed to monitor, take action and then report.

It could well be though that he may not be able to uninstall, that's the problem. If he is registering online he is going through a server and that server will have him as a user, not an administrator. Check your control panel > add/remove programs and see if you can uninstall without registering. If you can't uninstall without registering then it's unlikely you'll be able to uninstall afterwards.

    Re: Netintelligence HELP

"Netintelligence can be uninstalled using “Remove a Program” from your Windows Control Panel.

Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Remove a program (Add or Remove Programs in Windows XP) -> Select Netintelligence from the list and double click it using the left mouse button.

When uninstalling Netintelligence, you will be prompted for your uninstall password. Your uninstall password can be obtained by double clicking on the Netintelligence Icon on your desktop and logging in to your online control panel. The password is then located under the support section as shown below."

    From their website here:

    Edit: link fixed, sorry.

Can't you just re-master the computer by using the recovery discs or from the recovery partition?

    Re: Netintelligence HELP

Having to register to uninstall is just backwards IMO!

On that page is states: Note: Netintelligence is not able to issue uninstall passwords to end users. These must be issued by the Home Access provider.

So signing up wont help. Fresh install required!

They probably want to see who's uninstalling their software, put them in a special observation list!
