    Nintendo DS Lite

    Ez all.

Needing a bit of info regarding getting games for these. Just purchased 2 for my sons. But the games are way over-priced for a little bit of cartridge

    A) I know there's a way to get dodgy games but not a clue how, someone mentioned a R4 card
    B) If I can get these dodgy games (download them) where can I download them from?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

It really is shockingly easy.. I havn't downloaded any games for a few months, but have over 100 downloaded. Very good for my kids who have a short attention span.

Some of the links on the sites mentioned in the previous thread had been deleted by the likes of rapidshare etc, but they don't normally take long to come back.

I think the R4 cards are supposed to be the most compatible - just make sure you buy a real one and not a dodgy one.
I had mine bought for me, so not sure the best place to buy them.
The one I got had the blank cart, a small memory chip (2gig I think) & a usb stick to put the mem card in so I could transfer the downloaded files from the pc to the usb stick & then take the mem card out & plug into the cart - which then went into the DS

You can fit as many games as you have space, but I think 2gig is the max for compatibility issues. Games range from 8mb to 64mb generally.

They are basically the same thing, but a lot of people swear by the Edge cards rather than generic R4's. However, a few of my friends have R4 cards (which were cheaper than Edge) and have had no problems.

I think maybe Edge cards are a bit more reliable than the cheaper alternatives.

Did you buy a DSi or the DS Lite?

The reason I ask is that not all R4 cards are compatable with the new DSi, you need to buy specific ones for those.. Hope it's not too late if you have a DSi.

Yeah, you will be fine with the DS Lites.. it's only the DSi's that won't accept all of them.

Can't go into detail as off out soon, but basically there should be some files already on the mem card (which make the menu for the games). If those files aren't on there, you need to get them - they should really be on there or at least with a disc that came with the pack of bits.
Then just download the games, unzip & put that game file onto the card. The menu auto detects the games & will put them onto a menu once u load it up into the DS.

BB is right.. you will need to put the operating software on the memory card for any games to work.

For the Edge cards I bought you had to go to their website and download it and then copy if to the card. Once you have the software on the memort card you should be ok.

The games you download should have a .nds extention.

Any problems let us know, I'm sure it can be resolved.
