    Password problems!

My sister is a ditzy beotch & she's forgot her password & can't use her PC... Is there a way of bypassing it & then resetting it when you've got it going? She's going to buy a Windows XP disc & sort it that way, but if there's a way of doing it for free & pretty simply (she's not technically minded) it would be of great help

Answers on a postcard to I haven't nicked someones computer, it is a genuine problem.

I'm pretty sure it's XP... She lives in Hereford though & although we could do the Remote Assist or whatever it's called... I've never done it & trying to talk her through anything complicated she'll get her hair off & just say "fuck it"

Can she log in as admin in safe mode? Is she can then it can be changed in the admin's CP.

That was my first thought mate, my little brother went over & tried it but they said that didn't work

@ Ms P - All of those Password reset things require you to burn an .iso image to a disc & start up with the disc in the computer... My sis has only got the one computer & trying to tell her how to do all that would have her pulling her teeth out

She could always get a geek from an advert in yellow pages. Would probably only charge about 20 quid for a call out

God knows Doddz, i rarely speak to her (she's my little half brothers sister) so not properly related to me... If that makes sense

I hadn't seen her for over 20 years until recently.

She's a proper blonde but with the attitude of a midget ginger

    She's a tight arse

Worst comes to the worst i'll burn one of those password reset discs & go over, bit hard at the minute coz my motor's off the road

Knowing her she'll just reinstall XP & lose everything... Which i don't want to happen, nowt worse than losing all your stuff, but she'll do it just so she can get back on the internet!

if she only wants it for the net, can she not just sign in as a guest? Granted it might not be accessible to guests but at least she's in & can start fekking about then.

Nice one Ms P, i'll PM her that little gem & if we've learnt anything today it's how to get into someone elses computer

But doing that is very naughty & will be frowned upon

The above method only works if no admin password has been set-up.

The best thing to do would be to download an XP disc for her and do a window repair from it. XP iso's are now free from here: Windows XP SP3 with Service Pack 3 Full Installation CD ISO Image Relased on MSDN/TechNet » Tip and Trick

Just download it and burn the iso then run a repair. Shouldn't take that long. By far easier and probably faster than trying the other stuff on the net.
