Recommend me an external/portable TB HDD

    Ez guys,

I have a 160gb external harddrive for all my tunes on serato, but for the last 6months or so its been playing right up,switching on and off when it feels like it
so ive put the mpfrees im most likely to play on my lappy which has now slowed down so much that it skips tunes when i listen to the recording ~x(

Ive got around テつ」100 - テつ」150 to play with and need at least 1TB hard drive as when i get round to rippin my vinyl i want it in WAVS only, Also need it to last longer than 2 years.

Ive been looking on pc world but theve only got three for sale on there and i dont know where to start.

Think I asked this question about a year ago, but never got round to getting one

I think the main response was not to buy Seagate products mate

Myself and 2 others have this one:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digi...9344632&sr=8-4
Mine is now full with films (which I use with the WDTV gadget).

That model is now discontinued so not sure what the newer one is like.

Also have just bought one of these 1.5tb drives :

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Stor...9344711&sr=8-1

This will also be used for more of the same - has great reviews on amazon.

Last year I got a 1.5 Terrabyte Samsung Story Station from Novatech which costs テつ」90 & it's great

    http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prod ... 015EB.html

The best part is it didn't cost me a penny either! A guy who works for Novatech messaged me on soulseek saying that he wanted all my 89 - 96 oldskool & we did a deal

Same one I just got from Amazon
Only problem is (which I think is another Win7 issue) is I started formating it to NTFS format last night & so far it's only about 1/2 way through!!!
Should only take about 4hrs, but it's been about 14 so far..

I'm also using win7 but when mine arrived it didn't need to be formatted, it was ready to go!

Mine was as well, but for use on the WDTV, to get best performance it needs to be formated to NTFS 64k clusters.

in my experience your better off buying a hard disk and an enclosure rather than a sealed unit. then that gives you the option of buying a bigger disk when it fills up (doesnt matter how big they are they will fill up at soempoint!!)

Maplin do a 1tb hard drive for テつ」79 and its quiet good, its 7200 spped and 16mb cache so it will be fast. I have 2 of them and never had any trouble and I travel with them. Good deal and worth the money. :-)

    This is the problem:

    http://www.maxtor.com/home-en-us.html

I personally had 2x maxtor drives go wrong on me within weeks of each other (both internal ones).
Also know a couple of people that have had problems.

Saying that though, a brand new 1tb internal WD drive I got with my new pc started going wrong (lock ups / freezing) - I thought it was a power or Windows 7 issue, but turned out to be the drive dying, so looks like even with a quality brand u can get problems....
