When its installed ( the snowman is the correct icon/ symbol) Click on File > Connect to server , otherwise nothing will happen.
Then choose which screen you want open, click Window and choose either User , Search etc
To add your own files, click on Control > Set Shared Files. Then add them from the Add Files tab at the bottom of the screen.
Thats all from memory though as I haven't used it for a while so I may have missed something out, I can't remember how to add friends though, probably ctrl click on user.
Ill get on there later and have another go .

By the way you can ban the piss takers

I ban them staright away. I'll try that other site that you and a few others are on...

Mind you I dont use it much anyway as all the music I want can be found on here now.
It is good for finding obscure music or films though

On the flipside the vast majority of my music collection was obtained via soulseek, & I've met alot of really cool people on there over the years including Curly who put me on to this place

Likewise rog i have met a one or two nice people who said i could take what i want from them, Including yerself

What totally finished me with Soulseek was this guy who wanted to download a couple of my sets which i didn't mind and then i wanted todownload 1 set from him - he got the sets he wanted and i only got 10% of the set i wanted - he not only slowed down his upload speed but then banned me after he got what he wanted X(

I can laugh about it now but at the time it really pissed me off

I now have ALL of my 1995 vinyl back (a wicked year for torn up amens), and have shared my folders for others to use... is that the right thing to do? I don't want to take off others and they can't take off me

Snowman :-\ That doesn't sound right mate There are loads of fake soulseek sites out there, http://www.slsknet.org/ is the legit one, but looking on there there's no mention of a Mac version, just windows

yeah true there is loads of sites that try to sell soulseek even though it is freeware lol!
but Mac doesn't run Soulseek it uses a different Host instead "sXs" as this software is old
im unaware to whether or not it actually works universal ppc/intel or above 10.5.8 to 10.6.2
ive not used it for about 2 or 3 years for the same reasons as mentioned people downloading
full back catalogs of tunes of you and then you select 2 or 3 from there list and get put in a queued for 3 months
then you message them saying can you start the uploads and they say fuck off and ban you

I'm more offay with soulseek now and have worked out all it's gubbins and stuff.

Just banned my first user, the twat! Thought he was being clever by downloading an mp3 that never got released officially, yet he had nothing to share (many thanks to Rog for pointing out to me that my files were unintentionally hidden :ymblushing: )... so tthat must have really pissed him off when I stopped his download 15% in

Gotta say though that it's awesome

I'm off it now for good. What i used to do with people who was downloading from me and not sharing or sharing a folder called "soulseek" or "sharing" i'd let them get to 90-95% then abort, delete and ban them.

Some people have a list of users who are allowed to download stuff from them and you can request to be added to their download user list

Apart from that there is no way of knowing if you are banned
