What software do you use to burn cds?

    (Windows Media, iTunes etc)

Use a software to normalize the sound. Perhaps there is a tool already incorporated into Nero Burning Rom.

Either normalize when ripping och normalize when burning.
If you dont like the plain sound increase perhaps rushing the song thru a compresser could do the trick (advanced)

If you normalise the volumes and they are still quiet then the chances are the files are a low volume to begin with. I use mediamonkey for my CD burning and I never have a problem.
