    What have I done?

Last night I was faffing about trying to get a ps1 emulator working on my laptop with little success! Anyway since then my graphics just don't look as sharp as before. I've got on to my graphics card settings & changed everything back to default but it's still the same! I have changed my resoloution back to how it was before but my screen just doesn't look right, especially when you're looking at text, it just looks dull compared to how it was before. I'm normally OK with stuff like this but not on this occasion Can somebody please help me?

Is the text not looking right on your desktop? or is it in the browser as well?

Both! Everything, but text especially looks dull & allmost blurred

For your desktop (i'm using Vista but I do remember what it is for XP) right click anywhere on your desktop and click properties, click on appearance settings, make sure "clear type" is selected and also, the other 2 options you see, make sure they are also ticked. But clear type is the main one which needs selecting.

I'm also using Vista, when I right click on my desktop I have the option to click on "graphics properties" or "graphics options", I can't see the "clear type" option anywhere

Yeah that's gotta be worth a try, I don't know why I didn't think of that myself

OK, if you are using Vista, right click anywhere and select personalize, click window colour and appearance, click open classic appearance properties for more colour options, the box that opens up, click effects, make sure clear type is selected and also the other 2 options are selected, click ok, and then apply and see how that is.

Just tried that, clear type is already selected & both boxes are ticked! This really is annoying me now! I think I'm gonna try a system restore. Wish me luck

Bloody hell. There will be a dead simple way of sorting this out, but if you fancy the system restore route, it can't hurt, it won't delete anything, so it's safe to do

I know, like you say it's probably something really simple but as things stand I can't figure what the hell it is. Thanks for your input anyway China

Re: What have I done? [sorted]

Sorted it via a system restore. What was strange though was that I selected 20/09/09, yet after re-booting it said that it had been restored to 01/01/1603 wtf!!! And now when I go back into system restore it says "no restore points have been created on your computers system disk. Think I better create one now!

    Re: What have I done?

Wasn't the resolution settings was it??
Most flatscreen monitors have to be set at a certain res for their size - eg - 17" flatscreen is usually 1024x768.
If it's incorrect, it blurs the pixels together a bit.
