    Mozilla Firefox [SORTED]

Help! I downloaded a nasty virus this morning (I did scan it with Malwarebytes first) that initially opened 3 internet explorer pages with a load of code on them.
Did another Malwarebytes scan, found it was a trojan, got rid of it fine, did a system restore, but now Firefox (version 3.5.2) won't run. When I click on the icon, the Vista blue circular timer thinks about it for a bit, then nothing happens.
I've also unistalled and reinstalled Firefox, but nothing, I have to log on with crappy explorer, and it's doing my head in ~x(

Please help, this is really concerning me

The only time I user IE is to log on to my work site as Firefox doesn't seem to like the secure log on bit.. But all the rest of the time I use Firefox so I'm not suprised you are pulling your hair out.

    Re: Mozilla Firefox

I would have done the same - kill virus, uninstall / reinstall...

So if that doesn't work, what I'd do next is uninstall & then use some sort of Reg Cleaner to make sure it got rid of all references to firefox in the registry before trying a re-install.

I've got one called Reg Cleaner - can't remember if it's free or not (well, I didn't pay ), but there may also be other similar progs out there as this was a little strange to use.

Also, I'd dump the downloaded firefox file, delete all temp files, run the virus scanner in safe mode (just incase) & also re download firefox.

Did the logical thing BB, uninstalled (again), grabbed a free registry cleaner that actually worked, reinstalled FF & it's like a massive weight's been lifted!

Was that desperate was in the middle of a pm to you about a factory reset!

    - Only just got back home so wouldn't have been much use
Glad u sorted it - I do think the one I got was a freebie thing & it's worked fine for me.
A factory reset without u having all the discs or drivers would be major hassle - even with the driver cds it's a fairly big job to someone who's never done it before. Plus it takes ages!
Just to format takes hours. To reinstall windows & the basic drivers can take another couple.
    Then u have everything else.
