    Question for Mediafire Account Users

Got my tunes backed up on 3 devices, but I want to back them up online aswell (okay, okay, it'll give me something to do at work ).

Mediafire seems the logical approach for me as there's no inactive use deletion, it's free (remember I'm from Birmingham, I ain't paying for stuff! ) , unlimited uploads/downloads and it's simple.

I can't use it at home as it stops uploading at 90% and now it's doing it at work too, both on Firefox and Internet Explorer. Scanning this section of the forum, it looks like a few other peeps have had this problem too, surely it has to be a browser setting issue?

    Any ideas?

I already have a Divshare account for uploading to you guys, but it's limited at 10Gb, and I obviously have more than that amount of tunage so therefore I'd have to have multiple accounts which is something I don't want - I'd like neat folders for genres/years in one account, where Mediafire would be perfect for it.

Looking at stuz74, dodders & cr3 at this one

mate, i haven't got a clue. I use different sites depending on what i'm uploading. If Mediafire is indeed free for unlimited ups and you want them all in one place then it sounds like the best option. Whether u can get it working or not tho - thats another matter.

I seem to remember CR asking about something similar for when he moves to China - but he was looking at paying for it. I would have a look for the thread but i'm currently having kittens - sorry.

    Cool

the downside to mediafire is that ya limited to 200mb files as a free user, hotfile lets ya u/l up to 400mb files as a free user

If any of my uploads have dead links, please PM me for a re-upload

Yeah, just read that thread, and I'm still not paying because these sites are known to lose files, go offline, and sometimes just disappear off the face of the earth.

At least if I used Mediafire I wouldn't lose anything par sé as it's work's time and it's free if you get me

Sure it's gotta be something with browser settings, I'm convinced

    Cool

i've not had to alter anything in browser settings to u/l to any of them ... aaand i would never suggest paying for what can be had for free

do you have ccleaner on ya pc .. a free app that is ace for clearing shite from ya PC ... might be worth a go

also try clearing ya cache, that could give probz

If any of my uploads have dead links, please PM me for a re-upload

Well i use it, only because i was downloading a load from ironmans blog and if i remember right it was the only one with no real download restrictions (get as many and as much as you like at a time as a free downloader)
Ive never had any problems uploading there and sometimes i wonder if maybe i did pay for a premium account as you get statistics and a mad amount of account info/options for a free account, but i deffo havn't. Can't think of any reason why it doesnt work for you man ?! Maybe an isp thing .. i dunno though.

    Total Storage Used
    19.14 GB
    From 524 total files

    Total Downloads Served
    16,200
    Since November 08, 2009

    Bandwidth Served
    312.03 GB
    From Currently Hosted Files

isnt bad for free and simple. They dont care how much you use but as oothefuxthat says theres a limit per file of 200mb; although rar-ing up anything bigger into 190mb .parts isn't too hard when needs must.
Been busy here last couple of weeks but will be getting back to more great mediafire usage before long!
damn I sound like there rep.

Just for note, it also crashes my browser at the 80-90% mark, again Firefox or IE

Heya Swipez! I've never had much probs with Mediafire since I first started uploading my files. Only the occasional freeze when downloading, but that may just be due to large amounts of traffic to a downloadable file or summit (am not computer savvy, so just shows how easy it is for me). I can't really say how you and other folks are having bother with uploading files? But then again, I haven't uploaded anything recently. I'll give it a bash just now to see if it's a prob with Mediafire.

I'm a free Mediafire user and have already got 8.82 gigs worth of stuff in my account, so there's a fair amount of space on there. Allthough I'm not sure of the limits. Anyone clarify this?

I've got a shed-load of stuff in my mediafire folder & have never had any problems with it? I used to be a paid-up member of Rapidshare until it wouldn't let me upload anything so I sacked it off & stuck with mediafire....

Seems the common theme on the forums is the latest version of Flashplayer (i.e., 10) needs to be installed.

    Guess what?

    It doesn't work!

I've managed to upload a single for posting here, but it took two attempts to do it. Got the dreaded 'FAILED!!!' comment. So maybe Mediafire is being a bit of an arse at the moment?

This happened to me earlier too

I restarted my PC 3 times before it worked for me - i don't know why it does that sometimes.

I think it might be due to when you upload are there loads of other people uploading at the same time and Mediafire can't cope with the load.

I've tried Mediafire a few times and almost every attempt to upload resulted in 'error'...

For putting things up on here, I use RS or Divshare.

But for a decent freebie site, not sure what other ones there are that will keep your files indefinitely.

I've always used Mediafire & i only started having uploading problems when i got Windows 7... I used to use my ex's XP netbook to upload to it & no problems at all...

I've uploaded a load of stuff the other day & apart from it being picky on what i was uploading (yes to some, no to others) it's been fine yesterday.

As for Hotfile... Not too keen on waiting 30 minutes after the first download has finished to get the next file

As already mentioned mediafire is great 'cus there seems to be no limit on the amount of data you upload, I already have over 18gb on my account & it's still going strong! The download & upload speeds are reasonable, your files never expire, & when people want to download something there's no waiting times or restrictions. I think in comparisson to the alternatives it's the best by far. On the downside, like Leon not long after upgrading my OS to Win7 I was unable to upload anything atall for quite some time, then one day I tried again & it's been fine ever since. When I did have problems uploading it would display a ridiculasly fast upload speed, get to 90% in a matter of seconds & then get stuck.

That's what's happening my end. PC @ work is running on XP with either IE or FF.

    did you ever resolve this?

I've been using mediafire for months and months with no problems, but for the last week when I try to upload anything it gets to 50% and says "upload stalled", then it restarts from the beginning again. Got a divshare account but it's shit compared to mediafire, I'm really disappointed

Yeah, my browser at work and home is now Google Chrome and I've put every single tune I own on Mediafire (all in VIP)... mighty quick doing it at work too

Thing it may be a more stabler browser and Mediafire may well have tweaked things their end. I do get the Upload Stalled announcement ocassionally, but it sorts itself out within 10 seconds and carries on uploading another file
