Welcome to this week’s IAAO email

I’m finding it harder and harder to keep on top of the amount of new music being released every day. I’ve touched on digital downloads before and while there are plus and minus points to it all, the one thing I don’t like and at the same time do like is the sheer amount of new stuff released.

I like it because of choice, there is so much to choose from and I can be like a kid in a sweet shop. But with so much choice it is getting harder and harder to find those perfect tracks which you like. Luckily all these stores have a try before you by option. Some give you a 2 minute sample and others give you the whole track. So you try you buy and you go away happy. The trouble is you (me at least) miss a track or two and I will hear a radio show and hear a track I like and then I look at the track listing and find that track I listened to before but it didn’t catch my eye/ear the first time around and then I go back and get it. This is happening quite a lot.

With summer around the corner there are more and more releases coming out and I’m getting into a blind panic because there is so much quality and so little time to get them all and listen to them all. Perhaps I need to be a bit more selective in my choices.

Whatever music genre you are into, I urge you to go to one of the digital stores and get buying some good music. It is supporting the artists and producers and in a small way it still feels like you are flicking through racks and racks of records down at your local music shop. Yes it costs money (although most tracks depending where you go are less than £1) but if you are a collector of music, money never really comes into the picture. Happy buying.

The bank holiday weekend is almost upon us and the annual Renegade Radio charity event will be a major part of the weekend. The name of this year’s event is Episode 4 – A New Hope and it promises to be a massive event with lots of fantastic prizes. This is all in aid of Charity and this year’s charity of choice is the Shooting Star Chase Children’s Hospice. Please get involved with this, it’s a very worthy cause. To find out the full details of what is involved, then please take a look here: Renegade Radio Presents: Long Good Friday Charity Event, Episode 4 - A New Hope Hope to see you there.
