Thread: Its All About Oldskool Weekly Email (12th December 2010)

Welcome to this weeks IAAO email.

I upgraded the site software last week to version 4.10 and as far as I know that will be the last one for this year, so no more interruptions in the dead of night.

I made a couple of changes this week in terms of new things on the forum. One of them is an auto tag feature, which will automatically add tags to your posts for you. This enables the search function to work in a much better way and it helps you find the things you are looking for faster due to key words in tags.

Another function is the acronym replacements, which basically means when you put certain shortened words in a post such as IAAO, it will give you the full meaning of the word when you hover your mouse over it. More weeks will be added soon. It’s mainly to benefit the bots who index the site, but it has its uses to members as well.

Something I will be adding to the forum soon will be the inactive users and lurkers user groups. You may remember we had these groups for those who hadn’t made a post for a certain amount of time and they were put in a specific group. Well this is a little more advanced but does basically the same thing. Although it will be now done automatically rather than manually, so it makes it much easier to maintain as I will not need to do anything, the site will take care of the lot for me on a daily and weekly basis.
