Its All About Oldskool Weekly Email (16th January 2011)
Welcome to this week’s IAAO email
Why do we like the music we like? It’s a strange question which we probably never ask ourselves, yet we always have a strong opinion on what others like and listen to. We think to ourselves or even say to a person “why do you like that rubbish” or “how can you listen to that rubbish” yet we never ask ourselves the question of why we like something. We seem to just, do, and never question it. We sometimes go as far as thinking “well I love this, how can someone not like this music”
The answer of course is that everyone is different (although that is open to debate with today’s sheep society) and while we may think something sounds fantastic and we couldn’t live without it, others are of a different opinion and hear something completely different to what we do. I suppose the same can be said about food. My Mrs Eats the most disgusting things and I would never dream of saying I like that and I wonder how on earth she can eat something like that. She thinks I’m weird for not liking what she eats and wonders how I can go through life not liking something she adores.
We are all different and enjoy doing different things, eating different things and listening to different things. We sometimes forget in our blindness that there are others who hold a different opinion to us and it needs to be remembered that just because we like something, it doesn’t mean everyone else should.
In last week’s email I mentioned about buying things in Digital format and how it seems less personal than going down to your local record shop. Well there is an interesting topic going on in a similar vain to this and can be seen here: Serato it’s quite an old thread but it’s just been brought back to life with some interesting opinions and takes on the subject.
It’s nearly lift off day for my monthly radio show on Renegade Radio. The Its All About Trance show starts on Tuesday 18th February at 9pm (UK Time) and it’s hosted by yours truly. I will be entertaining you for 2 solid hours with the best in Trance & Progressive. It would be fantastic if you could tune in and show your support and who knows, you may even like it. So point your browsers to http://www.renegaderadio.co.uk from 9pm onwards. Join in the chat or send me a message on the pager. See you there.
A new theme has been added to the site. I will be adding more as time goes by to get a feel for some new themes and hopefully one we all like will become a firm favourite of yours. You can select the theme by going to the bottom of the forum and selecting one from the drop down menu. The new theme is called Colour Theory. To learn more about this, check out this thread: http://www.its-all-about-oldskool.co...k-theme-17600/ and give us your opinion and feedback on the type of theme you would like to see.
A software update happened last week and I made all the changes. Apart from various bug fixes and other such things, the ability to select the full screen option in videos like youtube etc has been added. So any documentaries and other such things can now be viewed in full screen rather than watching on a smaller screen and directly going to youtube etc to get that particular option.
Have a great week,
China.
