Its All About Oldskool Weekly Email (23rd January 2011)
Welcome to this week’s IAAO Email
I wrote in an email a couple of weeks ago about how music was less personal now and about how having so much music I find it hard to sit down and listen to tracks other than just skipping through them.
Well I did my monthly Its All About Trance radio show this week on Renegade Radio this week. It was my very first show on there and I loved every minute. In the week or so leading up to the big night I was deciding what I could possibly play for my first show. So I sat down and started listening to music again. Some tracks I already knew and some I hadn’t listened to properly. So I set aside a few hours and just listened to some good music. I have all my music on CD’s as well as my hard drives. But a lot that is on my HD’s that I’ve bought over the months/years I haven’t yet burned to CD’s
I was actually listening to music again, properly. I’m lucky that I have everything stored in years/genres and in some cases BPM’s, so it was pretty easy to find the kind of stuff I was looking for. Also I knew which style I wanted to play for my first show, so again it was easy to find what I was looking for. It’s hard to understand the feeling it gave but I felt good, it felt good to be listening to music again properly and it felt more personal again.
Since doing the show I’ve been sitting down and doing exactly this. 30 Minutes to an hour at a time, just going through various tracks from various years. Stuff I missed the first time round which I bought on a spare of the moment thing because it sounded good on the sample I listened to. So it was not a case of just listening to new stuff, it was stuff going back quite a few years which I was listening to.
For the first time in a long time, music is starting to feel personal again to me and it’s a fantastic feeling. I’ve just got to decide now about what to amaze you with in the next Its All About Trance radio show on Renegade. I guess you will have to tune in to find out. If you missed the first one, then you can grad the whole 2 hour show here: China-Rising Live on renegade radio - Its-all-about-trance monthly set
For those of you, who perhaps seem to feel as though you have fallen out of love with music, just take some time to yourself and just listen? Even if it’s 20 minutes a day or an hour a week. Music brought us all together back in the day and music brought us all together on IAAO, perhaps it’s time you brought yourself back to music as well.
For those of you who like to browse the site on your mobile phones. You may remember that there was going to be an Ipod app for browsing, but that had to be knocked on the head due to cost compared to the % of users who would find this a valuable addition to the forum. Well the next best thing is coming your way very soon. When the next site update happens, a brand new mobile style will be added. This will benefit everyone who uses a phone to look at the site as it is made just for that purpose. Watch out for more news on this very soon.
Our man Swipezster has done another of his always enjoyable Blogs. Also don’t forget that any of you can create your own blog for anything you want to use it for. It’s free and it’s easy to do. It’s all part of IAAO.
Don’t forget that if you have any feedback regarding the site, the email and what you would like to see featured in it, perhaps you would like to see a new section of one taken away. Then use the feedback section of the forum which you can find here: Feedback, Questions & Suggestions
Have a great week.
