I've noticed we have quite a few 320kbps tracks in the various years.
How would you feel about a dedicated 320 singles section, sorted out into years?
I have a 320 section on my Trance site and there's loads of stuff in there.

"Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music."
The only reservation is whether it is a true 320 track and not a VBR or re-encoded track.
It might prove tricky.

A good idea with regards to the 320 though mate!!!!
Is this just for the normal download area, or another seperate one for the vip?
And will it be for singles only or albums?
I personally don't like the structure on the trance site with the seperate 320 & lossless section - I prefer tunes to be together in genre/year rather than quality.
I see the problem here that there's enough tunes floating about on this site, and it's difficult to keep track of what's recently been uploaded, especially if a new member thanks the original poster from way back when, as it just bumps it to the top, and people like me think, "ooooh, new upload" - this I can just about keep on top of (always have my music folder open for cross-referencing)... but another section to keep track of, because the members here love their 320s? Seems too much to me![]()
Before you start ranting, I'm one of the worst members on here that's anal about the quality of my mp3s, but I've recently discovered that there's not much difference between a 192 & 320 listening-wise. So IMO, if it's above 192, sound![]()
Have to say I'm dead against the idea; things should be kept simple, and where the regulars (as well as the newbies) know they can find stuff.
Also the problem as BB stated about the albums AND singles section - that's 2 more to keep on top of.
Then you have the 320/VBR debate, plus aother thrown into the mix because some dudes like me convert an original track, say, 192 to wav or 320 format with software, which doesn't make a lot of difference. Next thing you know, it's like, "swipezster, that 320 you upped was only a 224!" Therefore I'd feel bad about it, even though I took out the time to upload it!!!
We must remember here that the vibe of the whole forum is about sharing the gems, not how shiny they are
Surely this is a valid point? But who am I to argue with the masses?![]()
Indeed - and as pointed out - 320 cbr and 320 vbr - both quite different, although whether our ears can tell the differenceOriginally Posted by swipezster
I personally think just putting 320 in the title would be good enough as it will mean trying to track down all the current 320s as well as moving new ones which end up in other sections.
This is a good point, and the majority of the posters do this anyway; wasn't that something requested by Admin for all members to do when the site was made... think I remember a post about that somewhere :-\Originally Posted by billybob2007
Why fix something if it ain't broke?
I can put one in VIP if you want, and it's only for singles.Originally Posted by billybob2007
When it comes to 320 sections and the Trance site, the majority of tracks come from digital download sites like Audiojelly, Juno ect ect ect, and most people use those tracks to mix with rather than to put on their ipods. Because so much stuff gets released on a weekly (and daily) basis, it would be very hard for someone to find a track that is 320 in a mass of 1000's, plus, double posts would also be a problem. If you have countless members wanting to put a track on a site and they have a 320 version, but see someone has already put that track up for share, they will not check that track to see if it's the 320 version, they will just skip the track they have and not bother sharing it, thus, we miss out on a 320 version of that track. Yes you could argue that putting (320) in the title should be done, but you know as well as everyone does that people don't always do that. Prime example of this is wrapping links in the BBCodes, not everyone does it even though everyone was asked if they could do it. Other examples are Hide BBCodes to hide links from people, not everyone will do it, even though it is asked of them. The video BBCode we have, not everyone uses it, even though it is there to be used because they simply forget, putting years in titles was a problem on PO before we had the year structure, even though it said in the rules could you put a year in the title, people just forget, or don't know, or can't be bothered finding out. Which brings me back to the original part of this reply.Originally Posted by swipezster
If you go to a 320 section, you know what you are getting and you know what goes there. If you grab a track and it's either VBR or a Re-Rip, then as with other sites, you should let the powers that be know so they can move it to the correct section. Think of the countless tracks that may be in 320 here but people haven't bothered telling others it is. You may want that track in 320 but you can't find it, so you go look else where to track it down. You may not do that, but others will.
I don't think we really need a seperate section to be honest (as mentioned above) - think just putting 320 in the title would be good enough.Originally Posted by China-Rising
After all - a crackly record recorded at 320 is not going to sound as good as a cd rip at 192.
And u mentioned in that big post above that some tunes that are at 320 that haven't been mentioned - does that mean we'll have to download every single track that doesn't mention a bitrate so we can put it in a 320 section if it is 320?
A free mp3 is a free mp3 at the end of the day - if people are that fussed of getting the highest quality rip, they should buy an original![]()
You and others do that BB. but not everyone does, as stated in my reply to swipezster. In an ideal world people would do this stuff to make things easier for the folks looking at the sections, but people forget. If something is put in the 320 section and it's either VBR or a Re-Rip, they can be moved if we are told about it.Originally Posted by billybob2007
Of course not BB, that would be silly, unless you are volunteering. Again, this comes back to my point of people either forgetting or can't be bothered. With a section dedicated to it, they can be lazy, they just pop it there.Originally Posted by billybob2007
I can take the section away, it's not too late, but so far i've not heard a reason that would make me do it.
Confusing? how is having a dedicated 320 section confusing to a member?
Putting 320 in the title is great, but not everyone does it.
Example: I'm a new member and i'm searching for a track in 320. I find the track on here after doing a search, there isn't 320 in the title so I don't bother and try somewhere else as I already have the track I just want a better quality version. I could do a request, but as I already have the track it's not worth it, I will just go and search somewhere else.
With a dedicated 320 section I simply go to that section and do a search in that section for the track i'm after, if it's there, break out the champagne, if it's not, well i'm no worse off than I originally was.
Yes BB, they could buy the tracks, but not everyone is like us![]()

Maybe not confusing, but do u have just one section for all different years and genres or one in each bit?Originally Posted by China-Rising
With it the way it is (ie per year) u have a general idea of the style, especially if you're not familiar with names of tune (I for one like grabbing tunes I haven't heard of, but what I don't want to do is waste time downloading styles I don't like - and this is generally covered by years - to an extent).
Your site at the end of the day though![]()
It is all in separate years, exactly like the way the singles, albums and live sets are. Have you not seen the section?Originally Posted by billybob2007
