Making An Old School Classic Number 1 In The Charts For A Week

My missis put the charts on sky today to listen to number 1 first time ive listened to any of it in over 20 year's and no surprise to me the track at number 1 was a shocker but i did hear Tina Turner briefly in the top Ten and then rememberd how the chart's are now controlled mainly by download's from specific site's.I then thought how good would it be for all those Radio 1 Chart listener's to all be locked in for the latest number 1 and a true classic come's on from way back when and i don't mean E's R Good by the Shamen.Personally i would like something from the Good Looking stable as i feel alot of these track's are timeless piece's.I know the whole Shadow back catalogue is available for download on I tune's as about 3 or 4 year's ago i managed to get the original mix of Lord Of The Null Line's of there not sure tho weather I Tune's count's toward's the chart's.It would cost us all i think 79 pence each and we would need to find around quarter of a million Old Schooler's willing to purchase the track at a certain time (250,000 doesn't seem as much saying it like that!!!) for the track to get to number 1 i believe. It would take some organising and all the head's would have to help also people with top knowledge of the Old School RIng that could mastermind the whole process.I also know it go's against everything that the scene used to stand for by basically making a track comercial but time's have changed and the scene's evolution now seem's to have become static and alot of the doo's ive been to recently have been infiltrated heavily by the alcohol society, not knocking a beer of course just the attitude that come's along with it!!!
How do people feel about this and also do you think it's possible? :ymhug:

Well it was done with that other tune recently, so I suppose it is possible.
Not all download sites count towards the chart though, so u have to be careful where u buy from.

Quality tune, but I don't think the original mix is available is it?? They keep upping the wrong mix to all the download sites.

Doe's anyone think they could take this on has to be someone influential with regard's to the Old School scene most people can post it up on everysite they have access to, also is 250,000 old school raver's really feezable. The Christmas number 1 did this i beieve Rage Against The Machine they used facebook i as we could use it and also all the Old School Radio site's just need a site to represent it ie voting on a selection of tune's that would be acceptable.

Maybe get a facebook fanpage set up and get the word spread for a certain week to have it downloaded by.
I will happily look at sorting the page out. What tune would everyone want?

Nice one Branner's I think everyone has to download it in the same week as it count's toward's that week only doesn't it, I will look into exactly how the chart work's and what site's are used to count the download's.Need a selection of tune's say about 5 to vote on which one to use.Would people be able to vote on facebook as to which tune to download? Once that was selected we then just have to pick the week.
If people put there tune up on here as to which they would like used then we can get 5 from here to put on Facebook the one's which get mentioned the most, then post it everywhere everyold school site known to man. This site is now well protected from leacher's what with the code's or would the publicity this site would get from it be a problem?

I think using a site like this for such a thing may be a problem. If the wrong people come on to this site and see what it's all about, we may get a slapped bottom.

A facebook group is your best bet and you could easily advertise that Facebook group on here and get people involved and informed on what is going on. That's not a problem at all.

You could also use this site and others like it to choose your track, then set up the group.

Obviously need to check if there available for download first,
    My Tune Is ummmmm............................................ ............
    M.A.N.I.C. - I'm Comin' Hardcore (Remix) '92
    http://www.discogs.com/MANIC-Im-Comin-H ... ster/68306

Get goose bump's now still as that drop come's in!!!!!!!!!

Need to see if it would be available.

It would have to be done through Facebook definatley like the last one was but it would be cool to use this site and B2VOS and HWND to select the tune to be used.

All 5 Chapter's are available on http://www.7digital.com , could even just do a vote on which chapter to use rather than on which tune.

Chapter 3 & 5 are the only ones that are correct.
    Chapter 1 is Chapter 3.
Chapter 2 & 4 seem to be the same & totally different to what was ever originally released.

    No chapter 1.

I reckon this is possible, & You wont need anything near 250.000 Downloads maybe as little as 30.000.

Everyone wants a nice clean copy of Chapter 1, but the only way to get it (in full) is the original cd single - which is very rare these days.
I've got an edit on an old rave cd, but nothing like the full mix.

If XL got their act together and properly put out that mix, then it might be something worth attempting.

All this chapter talk has been confused,

Would have to make it nice a simple to make sure everyone new exactly what track to go for.. There are a couple of large facebook pages such as Spirit of 89 which already has over 5000 fans in only a few weeks, just need to get a few of those on board and anything is possible.

    I'm up for it!

this is the one we need ...

Dub War (Chapter One) (Edit) 3:27
    http://www.discogs.com/Dance-Conspiracy ... ase/142649

good thing about the edit is it's just the right length of time to get airplay [music]

    I've got the edit on this : http://www.discogs.com/Various-Rave-Ant ... ease/50578

But people who'd want to pay out for the tune wouldn't want an edit - they'd want the full length version.
No one likes paying for an mp3 as it is, let alone a short mix (That's how I see it anyway).

It's definatley possible if you think we will only need around 30,000 selwyn. Need to sort a track then, going to search the other site's to see if any of them have the original Dub War.

    Just had a look on here:- http://www.theofficialcharts.com/gettin ... he-charts/
    & http://www.theofficialcharts.com/faqs/

It seems, according to section 4.0 part d.(i) of the rules, that Unlimited digital variants or alternative versions of featured song may be combined for chart placing I think meaning that people could choose which ever version of 'Dub War' (or finally chosen track) they prefer , that is if I understood it correctly.

Either way someone will need to get their head round the rules...
