When its-all-about-oldskool.com was set up, it was for the sole purpose of creating a community for those who have a love of the old days and the various genres and scenes which it brought.
It is a free community and encourages all members to get involved in the various aspects that the forum has to offer. Be it music chat, general discussion and the sharing of oldskool music. It is a non profit community built on the love of the old days.
With this in mind, there are some who will join this community and see it and use it as a means of gaining access to music for personal pleasure, other websites/forums and in some cases, profit. At the same time they will not get involved in this community and not contribute in any way. These people are known as leechers and non contributors.
They are of no use to anyone or anything; they bring nothing to a community and only damage the hard work and effort the contributing members put in.
So a decision has been made to bring in a minimum post count which will enable members to see all that this forum and community has to offer.
At the moment, the minimum amount of posts is set at 10. If you haven't reached 10 posts then you will not be able to view all the forums and you will not be able to experience everything this forum has to offer.
So what is classed as contributing? Well it's quite simple. Contributing means getting involved in the discussion forums and other non download forums, replying to topics, starting your own, introducing yourself ect ect. That doesn't mean we are looking for one word answers to everything as this is classed as spamming. In other words if you haven't got anything of worth to add to a topic, then don't say anything. If you do spam, then your reply will be deleted by one of the admin team.
Once you have reached 10 posts, then please put a post in here Forum Promotion and one of the Admins will upgrade your status so you can use the rest of the forum.
If after being upgraded your first port of call is the download sections, then I urge you to at least say thanks for anything you grab and show a bit of respect to the uploader an those that have put in the hard work for you to relive those memories of the old days.
If you have any comments or feedback regarding this change, the please put them in this thread.
To kick start your 10 posts, how about introducing yourself here Introduce Yourself

Update 2nd June 2009
It has been quite clearly seen (and noted) that certain members have been joining this forum and blatantly spamming the boards to get to 10 posts. In particular in the introduce yourself forum. This stops now. There are 3 roads we can go down here which will put a stop to this...
1) Anyone blatantly spamming the forum will have their posts deleted
2) All new members posts will first have to be approved by one of the admin before it will be published on the boards
3) The minimum post count will raise from 10 to a higher number
For the time being, option 1 will be used and if that doesn't work, option 2 will be used.
I'm sick to death of seeing blatant spamming to reach 10 posts. It quite clearly says in this topic about what is classed as contributing to this forum:
Contributing means getting involved in the discussion forums and other non download forums, replying to topics, starting your own, introducing yourself ect ect. That doesn't mean we are looking for one word answers to everything as this is classed as spamming. In other words if you haven't got anything of worth to add to a topic, then don't say anything
