I've just installed and configured a new tool for users. It gives you the ability to exclude forums and the posts in those forums from what's new.

If this has confused you then let me explain....

Let's say I decide to post 20 videos on the conspiracy theories forum and you log on and hit what's new, it will list all those posts I have made, plus all the other post that have been made since your last visit. Now while I think it's important for members to understand what's going on in the world and to open said members eyes, members may not be interested in such things and don't really want to trawl through 20 9/11 truth videos or the global warming con.

Now with a couple of little tweaks in your settings, you can stop seeing those forums and posts when you hit what's new.

To do this, all you need to do is:

Click on settings (top right hand corner)
Under My Settings (left hand column) Scroll down to General Settings and click it
Scroll down to the bottom and you will see "Exclude forums from "What's New""
Select the forums you don't want to see in what's New
Click Save Changes
Done

There is also an option underneigh Exclude forums from "What's New" called Hide Forums from Forumhome. If you tick that box it means all the forums you selected to not see in what's new will also vanish from the main forum as though they aren't there. So not only will you not see that forums posts from what's new, you will not even see the forum on the main forum page. My advice is only tick that box if you are 100% sure you never want to see that forum or read it's posts, so it's best leaving it un-checked.

Please not that these new features are only available to the following user groups:

Admin
Moderators
Contridutors

All other usergroups will need to reach 10 posts or be active on the forum to use the feature.
