Welcome
I am in Philly for a few days in sept ... can you name some good bars and restaurants ? Radisson Plaza Warwick is the hotel so i think we are down town ?

OK so you'll be in Rittenhouse which is kinda the pretentious part of town as far as bars/clubs/etc go.Originally Posted by oldskoolrules
Spend $10 on a cab and go to Northern Liberties - it's a neighborhood (my neighborhood!) just north of Center City, it's the "up and coming" neighborhood of Philly, lots to see and do. A few places to check out:
Standard Tap @ 2nd & Poplar - Gastropub w/ one of the best burgers in town. Also all local beers on tap - they have I think 20 taps or so, plus whatever they have in bottles. Overall great service, bartenders, etc. It also happens to be my corner bar. I am there at least a few times a week. http://www.standardtap.com/
North Bowl @ 2nd & Poplar - sweet modern new bowling alley with a retro feel. Good food, video games, pool tables, air hockey, two bars, etc. Avoid on weekend nights cause it just gets too crowded. A few doors down from the Tap. http://www.northbowlphilly.com/
Dos Segundos @ 2nd & Laurel - right up the street from the Tap, great mexican food, strong drinks. Also avoid on weekend nights, lots of douches. http://cantinadossegundos.com/
The Piazza @ 2nd & Germantown. Just opened last year, a huge modern apartment complex with retail/restaurants/art galleries on the ground floors. Located just north of the three I just above. Something like 6 or 7 different bars all of which are quality but if you like burgers and milkshakes check out PYT - they have "adult" milkshakes, delicious! Also has an excellent all night diner called Darlings. Lots to see and do. In the center square of the Piazza there are seats and a giant plasma screen where they play movies or Phillies/Eagles/Flyers games. http://www.atthepiazza.com/
Outside of Northern Liberties - there is always South Street, but it's kinda ghetto and run down now. If you make it there, check out The Latest Dish @ 4th & South. Amazing restaurant. Upstairs from it is Club Fluid, one of the best clubs in the city (the best booth to play in for sure) where Dieselboy held his legendary Platinum night. Most times its hip-hop or house when you go there but they still put on drum and bass parties. http://www.latestdish.com/ http://www.fluidnightclub.com/
I tend to stay in my neighborhood, so I don't have many other suggestions but will post if I think of something.
cheers for the links matejust going to have a look at them
thinking of going to the zoo if it's any good ?
Haven't been to the Zoo in years. But apparently ours is great. It was awesome the handful of times I went as a kid.
A few other places I thought of - a good place close to me / NoLibs is The Barbary @ Frankford & Delaware. http://thebrbry.blogspot.com/ New club opened like 2 years ago. Great soundsystem, kinda grimey decor, stiff drinks, good service, hot girls. Always great music (mostly house, disco, electro, etc), it's like the "IT" club of the moment, but luckily the douches haven't invaded yet.
Another great bar is Johnny Brendas @ Frankford & Girard. http://www.johnnybrendas.com/ Live music upstairs, bar/restaurant down. Used to DJ classic rock and stuff here for happy hour a couple years ago. Fun place, great staff, GREAT food, good place to see live bands upstairs.
Johnny Brendas looks like i might be paying a visit ... i will pop in for a few jd'sthen onto The Barbary to get mashed [music] which i was single haha
