Bass Generator calls it a day.

Well folks I hate to say this but I'm retiring.
I've been contemplating this all year but I know it's time.
23 years of Dj'ing has taken it's toll and to coin a phrase, "I'm too old for this shit!"
I want to spend more quality time with family. I have a beautiful wife and a crazy 3 year old son who need me to be a responsible husband and a daddy.
The long hours involved are wrecking me and to be honest I'm not enjoying it anymore.
I have to be wasted to have a good time and the hangovers last for days now.
Last gig I can honestly say I enjoyed was over a year ago (M.O.H./Glasgow).
The scenes taken a nose dive as we all know and last year was a struggle.
This years started bad and it's only going to get worse.
I wish I could see a light at the end of the tunnel but I can't so I've decided to call it a day.
I have some events I'm currently booked for including a couple of charity gigs, which I will honour but I won't be taking any more bookings from now.

I am due to play at the Back To The Future Birthday Party at the O2 in Glasgow and will be appearing at the Fubar Re-Union #2 on Boxing Day.
Finally I will be playing the BTTF New Years Eve party in Glasgow, this will be my final event and I'll have a very special set for you!

Even if the scene suddenly revives itself I'll still be too old to enjoy it so I'll not be making a comeback anytime unless it's for a very worthwhile charity.

I'll be messaging everyone off my many social networking pages before closing them all down.
I'll keep my fan page on Facebook...

…so you can keep in touch if you want to but I'll be deleting all the others.

I'll keep my website open but it won't be updated, it'll just be a biography type thing, I'll be closing my Online shop at the end of August.

As a goodbye present I've got a very special item for sale, go look!

I can't put into words how much I appreciate all the support you have given me over the years.
The Scottish and Newcastle Hardcore scenes were my life and I'm really going to miss it, I'm going to be lost for a while but I've got to think of the future and keep the past as a happy memory.
Good luck to those who are sticking with it.....

    Thanks & Au Revoir!
    x

wise words from a legend dj

if only some of the other old boys would take a leaf outta his book and move aside and make room for NEW YOUNG djs that are playing for people thier own age and still have the eye of the tiger for the scene and for inventing truly new sounds.

    good luck BG
