Yeah I cant believe it $20k for faking a set.
How can you adjust your set play to the punters that's the real skill in Djing as we all know.

I feel that if DJs play pre-recorded sets, that they basically shouldn't be booked for further events - period!!

    What do you mean Puffa?

If it's selecting your tune selection using software beforehand but you still have to mix it during your set then yes that's fine

People go to clubs/events for music and also for the DJs that they like to hear but if they are just playing pre-recorded sets then they are basically ripping off their fans in my opinion.

Great idea.... We're all getting on a bit & prefer to be slightly less active these days! Just seems to be missing a comfy armchair & a pair of slippers behind the decks!

Obviously if I was a paying punter then I'd be majorly vexed but I wouldn't be out listening to this type of **** in the first place....

I do that with my Mixtrack pro... But as you've probably heard from my mixes the pitch is sometimes off & needs correcting, so i use the jog wheel quite alot for cueing the tracks, correcting them & for spinbacks etc... I can't just press play & it goes perfectly... There's a modicum of skill involved

Saying that, when i'm mixing i'm jumping around & totally involved with the tunes & the way i'm mixing them (even in a room on my own)... I'm not stood there disinterested like it's a chore like twot face in the youtube vid

My opinion on using beat matching software etc is it's mostly to do with the attitude of the DJ & the tunes he/she plays... But at least they are involved with the mix & not stood about whilst it's been pre done.

*EDIT i know some people who use CDJ's & they set all of the tracks to the same BPM before hand so that it's a piece of piss for them when they are playing, which to me is cheating slightly... But so is using auto BPM... At the end of the day a vinyl DJ is the original & best in my opinion

I do this when using Virtual DJ but i'm an amatuer

I don't think a professional well known DJ should be doing this as it's cheating imo - this software was made to give the DJ wannabe's a chance to experience DJing - give me a DJ who uses turntables/cdjs anyday

BUT AS FOR PLAYING TO PEOPLE AS A DJ/ENTERTAINER, SPESHLY IN CLUBS/PUBS............... MAY AS WELL STICK A CD ON IMO.

For me as, i have used turntables in the past and got a real taste for it bitd, then when i started using Virtual DJ it just didn't have the same feel as using turntables. I didn't have decks so VDJ was the next best thing but still turntables were always my first choice for mixing.

But for the younger generation VDJ is brilliant for them, as this is how they learn to mix and they don't have anything else to compare it too - so the younger generations will use DJ software for mixing and wouldn't look at turntables or cdjs as a viable option for DJing.

If my mates come round they have a laugh using my Mixtrack & then when i let them have a go on my decks or CDJ's they are shit basically & i worry about them damaging the needles or my vinyl.

I regularly use my decks but that's just to get my skills up to scratch (so to speak) & if i played out i would prefer decks than CDJ's... But i doubt i'll ever play out again because i'm not as good as i was & know i would fuck it up.

There are times when i download a bunch of tunes that i like i'll put them in a folder then go through them, number them & bang out a mix & VDJ is perfect for that as i don't have the vinyl & i probably wouldn't buy it... I only buy vinyl that i want & download new things to have a play with.
