    DJ Easygroove

Easygroove is one of the most popular DJ from the rave days. He played at most of the big Fantazia gigs and can still be found playing to crowds around the country to this day.

"I'll always remember buying an Easygroove tape from town in 1992 / '93, it was of a Fantasia New Year bash, I was listening to it on my walkman, the MC then got the DJ to stop the set and said something like "Are you lot feeling alive !!!" ... "well we are gonna take you into the new year, It's 12 o'Clock, so let's party !!!" then Easygroove let the record go, it was one of mine, it then got the rewind, then played again !!! I couldn't believe what I was hearing, listening to my tune that was absolutely buzzing up all the ravers at this massive event, I was in the middle of town with my walkman on, surrounded by a load of null faced shoppers, I just wanted to broadcast the fact to all these bored shoppers that my tune was getting played at such a big event at the turn of the new year !!!" Easgroove also used to play for Ektos, based in Swindon with Cool Cut dee, Melvin Gold, Martin P etc, he cut his first 12" (white label) in Shelly suite in Swindon .

Ah..Mr.Murray...wicked DJ... I used to chat with him on the phone, but my address book was stolen out of my car in London some time back, and since I live in France, kinda lost touch...
Used to get all the party details off him for the weekend BITD.. Mixed with him a few times and once tried to organise a warehouse party with him, and he's been to my parents house once for a party..lol
I stand with my legs apart while DJing...this way it is more difficult to throw me off the decks...I believe it is important to prepare properly for each set...and have the appropriate attitude..

I'm the same. I did have Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox and Cheryl Cole in my phone book and would chat all the time, but I lost it

..but the girls didn't come round to party?

A lot of people used to phone Easygroove for party details though. But he was quite a gentle guy, open to most people. I remember one time I'd been waiting to DJ all night and he pleaded my case to let me play..I got one tune on and they stopped the soundsystem by cutting the electricity!!...
At Cassington ouside Oxford 1991 next to the train track(anyone remember that?) ..Jonathan from the Cafe Tabac in Cheltenham had set up his 2 k Martin Audio rig behind the main tent..We'd been at it all night and now it was midday and Easygroove came along for a play..the sun was hot and his records started to visibly warp, he just made a joke about it being fucked, we found a tent and with some branches and rope we made an awning we pitched on the side of a van..Easygroove helped us set up and we carried on...though it must be said .. the e's were good...
Another time he invented the term "fluffy house" when playing at a LazyHouse party, outside Exeter..he didn't always play hard stuff...in fact his sets were always tinged with melody..

"A spoon full of sugar to help the medicine go down"...lol

He was one of those DJs whom you could tell was playing even with your eyes shut...So where is he now?? Anyone?

Im from Swindon and unfortunately I missed the Ektos raves that used to take place in Hardings/Shelly suite (a year or so too young). I do have a mix on MP3 though of an Ektos Easygroove set there in 1991 and went to a set of his at the Brunel Rooms prob around 94. Top Top DJ, one of my all time favorites

Thrash, do you have links to any sets from Dance Fest? I would love to hear some as I went to this but have only since listened to Ratty/ Mickey Finn which I had on tape.

right going back to this unknown track. i have just sent a load of mixes to his old security guy physco c/o easygroove himself and have asked as soon as he gets them to play the dancefest set and in the voice of Lionel Blair asked him to 'name that tune' sorry im sure that will go over far to many of the young-un's heads.

anyway i will let you know

I've got that bad boy in 192... Is there an upgrade in the near future?

Edit* Just had a listen & it's a short mix he did at Perception 91 & not a track he made... Still pretty tasty
